The Flea Premieres I SEE YOU Tonight Off-Broadway

The Flea presents the World Premiere of I SEE YOU by Kate Robin. This romantic comedy will be directed by Flea Artistic Director Jim Simpson. Previews of this limited run Off-Broadway engagement begin tonight, November 7 with opening slated for Sunday, November 16.

Tovah Feldshuh & Tom Dugan Set for Kristallnacht Remembrance at WIESENTHAL, 11/9

On Sunday, November 9, Wiesenthal, the new play about the legendary Simon Wiesenthal will mark the 76th Anniversary of Kristallnacht with a special post-show candlelight remembrance. Immediately following the matinee, special guest Tovah Feldshuh (Golda's Balcony, Irena's Vow) will join Wiesenthal's playwright and star, Tom Dugan, in a conversation and candle lighting ceremony with audience members reflecting on the historic 'Night of Broken Glass.'

The Flea's Artistic Director Jim Simpson to Step Down

Artistic Director Jim Simpson and Producing Director Carol Ostrow are looking for a dynamic leader for the completion of The Flea Theater's long tenancy at 41 White Street, and to lead The Flea once it moves to its own new three-theater performing arts complex at 20 Thomas Street in 2016.

The Flea Announces Second Extension for SMOKE

The Flea Theater will offer a 2nd extension of Kim Davies' World Premiere SMOKE. It is directed by Flea Resident Director Tom Costello (The Wundelsteipen) and features members of The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, "where 50 Shades of Grey dances on the surface of BDSM, Smoke cuts to the core."

WIESENTHAL Begins Tomorrow at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row

Daryl Roth and Karyl Lynn Burns present the New York premiere of Wiesenthal, the award-winning play written by and starring Tom Dugan and directed by Jenny Sullivan. Wiesenthal begins performances October 24 at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row, (410 W. 42nd Street). Opening night is November 5.

The Flea to Present Second Part of THE CUTTHROAT SERIES, 10/14-25

The Flea Theater presents Pod 2 of their terrifying 4 part theatrical event - THE CUTTHROAT SERIES: GRAND GUIGNOL DUELS beginning October 14. These turn of the century French plays alternate between ghastly horrors and carnal comedies to create a gripping, deplorable evening of theater. To add to that thrill, audience members will vote on their favorite play from each of the four pods (titled GORE, CRUELTY, NIGHT TERROR, and LUST) and the winners will return for an extended run in January. The winner from GORE was TICS, OR DOING THE DEED.

Due to critical acclaim and popular demand, The Flea Theater announces the extension of the World Premiere of Kim Davies' SMOKE, directed by Flea Resident Director Tom Costello. Extension performances will run October 9- November 9.

Albee-Inspired MR. LANDING TAKES A FALL Begins Tonight at The Flea

Slightly Altered States Theater Company presents the World Premiere of MR. LANDING TAKES A FALL, an absurdist comedy by Sari Caine, directed by Sherri Eden Barber. Inspired by Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, the play was a PlayPenn 2013 semi-finalist and short-listed for both the 24/7 (UK) and the Ronald Duncan Award (UK). Previews begin tonight, September 12 at The Flea Theater with opening slated for Monday, September 22.

Billy Magnussen Joins Sigourney Weaver and David Hyde Pierce for A SONG AT TWILIGHT Reading

Billy Magnussen joins his previously announced chums - Kristine Nielsen, David Hyde Pierce and Sigourney Weaver - for a reading of Noel Coward's A SONG AT TWILIGHT. The VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE friends are reuniting for a benefit performance to kick off the 2014/2015 season of The Flea Theater. The performance will take place on Monday, September 15. A cocktail reception begins at 6 pm followed by the reading at 7pm and then a talkback with the actors. Flea Artistic Director, Jim Simpson directs the event at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center (199 Chambers St).

Kathryn Rossetter to Join Adam LeFevre in MR. LANDING TAKES A FALL, Begin. 9/12

Kathryn Rossetter, who appeared on Broadway opposite Dustin Hoffman in Death Of a Salesman and is currently head of the MFA Acting Program at the New School for Drama, will join Adam LeFevre (Broadway's Footloose, Mamma Mia, Guys and Dolls) in the World Premiere of MR. LANDING TAKES A FALL, an absurdist comedy by Sari Caine. #serials@theflea is a raucous late night play competition featuring The Bats and some of NYC's hottest young playwrights and directors. This event, which runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 11pm*, includes 1 FREE beer with the purchase of a ticket. All tickets are only $12.

National New Play Network Presents MFA PLAYWRIGHTS' WORKSHOP, Now thru 8/3

The National New Play Network (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, in collaboration with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and Stanford University's National Center for New Plays, will host nearly fifty playwrights, directors and dramaturgs today, July 26 - August 3, 2014 as part of a week-long workshop for new works by MFA students from New York University-Tisch School of the Arts, Hunter College, University of California-San Diego, and the Juilliard School.
