The Wailers Coming to Ridgefield Playhouse, 5/18

On the 30th anniversary of its 1984 release, The Wailers will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, May 18, at 8 p.m. performing the iconic album Legend in its entirety, which features the bands biggest hits of all time including 'I Shot The Sheriff', 'Redemption Song', 'Jamming' and many, many more. Special guest is Makua, the ambassador of Aloha, who is an accomplished ukulele player, singer and surfer. This event is underwritten by The Mango Tree and is part of the Xfinity Rock Series.

Santana, Wyclef, Avicii & More to Sing Official Anthem Of 2014 FIFA World Cup

FIFA and Sony Music Entertainment announce today that the Official Anthem of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is entitled 'Dar um Jeito (We Will Find A Way),' and features a global superstar line-up including music legend Carlos Santana, Wyclef, Avicii andAlexandre Pires.

Black Rock Coalition Orchestra to Kick Off Joe's Pub Residency on 4/8

The Black Rock Coalition (BRC) in association with Joe's Pub at The Public, presents the Black Rock Coalition Orchestra in residency at Joe's Pub. Under the creative supervision of BRC co-founder and Living Colour founder Vernon Reid, the BRC Orchestra will perform three shows throughout 2014, each celebrating Black rock pioneers and movements of the American pop canon. The first show is Santana Retrospective Redux, Volume 1, an exploration of the Grammy Award-winning guitar legend's expansive musical career, on Tuesday, April 8.

Everlast to Celebrate St. Patrick's at Hakkasan Las Vegas' Ling Ling Club, 3/17

Ling Ling Club inside Hakkasan Las Vegas at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino will open its doors for a special affair as the hot spot joins the St. Patrick's Day festivities Monday, March 17. The nightlife mecca invites guests to celebrate the holiday with a special DJ set and live performance from Irish rapper, Everlast. Following his time with hip hop group House of Pain, Everlast has since pursued a solo career in which he collaborated with Carlos Santana for the GRAMMY award-winning single 'Put Your Lights On.' Angelique Kidjo to Perform at Ridgefield Playhouse, 2/20

The multitalented, internationally renowned, Grammy Award winning Angelique Kidjo doesn't do anything half way. In January 2014, she released a new studio album, Eve, as well as an autobiography entitled, Spirit Rising: My Life, My Music, which features a forward by Alicia Keys and a preface by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Kidjo's new album includes varied collaborations with artists such as Dr. John, Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. She will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, February 20, at 8 p.m. demonstrating why she is one of Africa's most celebrated musicians and humanitarians. As Bill Clinton says, 'The only thing bigger than Angelique Kidjo's voice is her heart.' Boasting a 30-year musical career with countless awards and distinctions, Angelique has worked with Carlos Santana, Peter Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Josh Groban and many more to bring her uplifting music to the world. A free wine and cheese tasting and African Mask Art by African Heritage Collection will take place in the lobby at 7:15 p.m. This event is partially underwritten by African Heritage Collection and is part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer/Songwriter and No. 109 Art, Wine and Jazz Series. Southwest Cafe (109 Danbury Rd., Ridgefield) will pour a free margarita with lunch or dinner the day of the show when tickets/stubs are presented.

Kate Upton the Face of Sam Edelman Once Again

For the second year, Kate Upton will be the face of Sam Edelman's spring advertising campaign. The campaign was shot by photographer Craig McDean on a private beach in California. Trey Laird directed the campaign styled by Karl Templer.

Martina Arroyo Receives 2013 Kennedy Center Honors on CBS-TV, 12/29

In recognition of her outstanding lifetime contribution to American culture, Martina Arroyo was saluted as one of five recipients of this year's Kennedy Center Honors in a star-studded gala celebration held on December 8 that will be broadcast nationwide as a two-hour prime time special on CBS-TV this Sunday, December 29 at 9pm, ET/PT. Seated with President and Mrs. Obama at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as well as with her fellow honorees (actress Shirley MacLaine and musicians Herbie Hancock, Billy Joel and Carlos Santana), the pre-eminent American soprano was introduced in a speech by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who also narrated a short video about Arroyo. She was then saluted by a musical tribute celebrating her legendary portrayal of the title role in Verdi's Aida. First, Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja performed Radames's aria 'Celeste Aida,' and soprano Sondra Radvanovsky sang Aida's aria 'O patria mia.' Then the two star singers were joined by graduates of the Martina Arroyo Foundation's programs-Ryan Speedo Green, Chantelle Grant, Robert Kerr, and Yuriy Yurchuk-as well as the Army Herald Trumpets and the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club, to perform the opera's Act II finale.
