On October 27, 2017, The New York Pops - a symphonic orchestra known for presenting popular programs of exceptional quality - will launch its 35th season at Carnegie Hall celebrating the diversity of some of popular music's greatest icons.

The Houston Symphony and Music Director Andres Orozco-Estrada announced today details of the 2017-18 season, which marks Orozco-Estrada's fourth year as music director. Highlights of the season include the appointment of Peruvian-born composer Jimmy Lopez as the Houston Symphony's new Composer-in-Residence and the introduction of Ars Electronica Futurelab's musical visualization of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, an immersive concert experience directed by acclaimed choreographer Klaus Obermaier

TACT has announced that Aisha De Haas (Rent, Caroline or Change), Peter Gregus (Jersey Boys), Capathia Jenkins (Newsies, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, Caroline or Change), Liz Larsen (Beautiful, Hairspray, The Most Happy Fella), Judy McLane (Mamma Mia!, Chess, Aspects of Love) and Billy Stritch (Liza's at the Palace, 42nd Street, Sondheim: A Celebration at Carnegie Hall) will star along with newcomers Patrick Dunn, Kelly McIntyre and Zoe Kassay, in an evening of song to benefit the company, supporting TACT's mission and programming.

Featuring a varied array of thought-provoking theater, film, music, art, and discourse, The Sheen Center delves deeper into its many signature series, and for the first time will produce a mainstage theatrical production: The New York premiere of Bill Cain's acclaimed play, 9 Circles. 

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts celebrates the Ella Fitzgerald centennial. The program pays tribute to the artist's legendary music through performances featuring Regina Carter, NSO Pops, and Jane Monheit.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway performers Aisha de Haas and Capathia Jenkins, who joined forces with pianist/singer/musical director Billy Stritch in 'Stritch, Trouble & More Trouble.'  The very special one-night-only event took place on the stage of the historic music room on Monday, November 14.

Best in Shows, a star-studded cabaret evening benefitting the Humane Society of New York, was held last night at Feinstein's/ 54 Below. Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, was awarded the Humane Society of New York's Sandy Fund Award, in recognition of his deep concern and support of the needs of rescued animals, presented by Tony Award-winning actress and animal rights champion Bernadette Peters.

Farah Alvin, Roger Bart, Haven Burton, Eden Espinosa, Capathia Jenkins, Andy Karl, Rob McClure, Orfeh, Gabriella Pizzolo, Keala Settle, Margot Siebert and Shanice Williams will star in Best in Shows, a star-studded cabaret evening benefitting the Humane Society of New York, on Sunday, October 23 , 2016 at 7 pm at Feinstein's/ 54 Below. Rhonda LaChanze Sapp, better known by her stage name LaChanze (Creole: the charmed one), taken from her grandmother, was born in St Augustine, Florida. Grew up in Connecticut, her parents nurtured her love for performing by enrolling her in high schools for the performing arts. After high school, LaChanze studied Drama at Morgan State University, before transferring to the University of the Arts, she studied Theatre and Dance. Her first Summer job was as a tap dancer in the ensemble of out of town tryout of 'Uptown...It's Hot!.' She made her Broadway debut in the same show in 1986.

The NSO Pops and Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke welcome one of the world's premier comedy troupes, The Second City, with renowned improvisational comedian Colin Mochrie, to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall for three performances to open the 2016-17 NSO Pops season, September 15-17, 2016. The Second City Guide to the Symphony is a live performance featuring a blend of original sketch comedy, new music and songs by Matthew Reid, and orchestral works by Mozart, Mahler, Glinka, and more.
