2nd Festival Of Ideas & Creation Runs 6/8-6/27 At Berkeley Street Theatre

The Canadian Stage Company is pleased to announce the second Festival of Ideas and Creation at the Berkeley Street Theatre, 26 Berkeley Street, Toronto, June 8 to 27, 2009. The three-week festival offers public, youth, artist and industry programming and features more than 350 theatre luminaries, emerging artists and youth in over 75 live events, most of them free.

The Canadian Stage Company wraps its 2008.2009 season with Doubt, a parable, the award-winning play that's taken North America by storm. The production stars Canadian theatre icons Seana McKenna (Canadian Stage's The Clean House, Wit) and David Storch (Canadian Stage's Frost/Nixon and director of Palace of the End), and is helmed by renowned director Marti Maraden (Canadian Stage's Trying). Canadian Stage Establishes Martin Bragg Endowment Fund

The Canadian Stage Company is pleased to announce the Martin Bragg Endowment Fund, established in honour of outgoing Artistic Producer Martin Bragg. To date colleagues and associates have donated $50,000 to establish the fund, which will be directed towards a Canadian Stage Company initiative of Mr. Bragg's choice.

Arena Stage Announces Edgar Dobie As New Managing Director

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith announced that the Board of Trustees has appointed Edgar Dobie as the new Managing Director of the theater. With roots in non-profit theater management in the U.S. and Canada, Dobie is a Tony Award-winning commercial producer who will begin with Arena Stage at the end of March.

Performances begin Tuesday, February 3rd on Broadway at The Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street). Opening night is Thursday, February 19th at 7:30PM.

The Canadian Stage Company opens its 2008/09 Bluma Appel Theatre season with Frost/Nixon, the 2007 Tony Award®-nominated play by Peter Morgan, award-winning author of The Last King of Scotland and The Queen. Tony Award®-winning stage and screen veteran Len Cariou (star of the original Broadway production of Sweeney Todd) plays the role of President Richard Nixon and is joined by David Storch (Canadian Stage's Lonesome West) as TV talk-show host David Frost. Three-time Dora Award-winner Ted Dykstra (Canadian Stage's Fire) directs. A co-production with Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company, Frost/Nixon had its Canadian premiere September 18, 2008 in Vancouver. The production transfers to the Bluma Appel Theatre in Toronto October 13 to November 8, 2008.
