From March 12 to April 2, August Strindberg Repertory will present Strindberg's 'Damascus II,' adapted by Edgar Chisholm, directed by Robert Greer. This is the second installment of the three-part work in which Strindberg first introduced true surrealism to the stage in the theatrical representation of the dream. Strindberg's tale of life in decadent artists' circles of 1890s Sweden will be brought to life in 1960s California and its leading character, an alienated writer, has been re-envisioned as an author modeled on Amiri Baraka.

Seattle Repertory Theatre reveals a first look at its 2016-2017 season, which will include the dazzling and emotionally gripping drama KING CHARLES III by Mike Bartlett. Produced in association with American Conservatory Theater and Shakespeare Theatre Company and directed by David Muse, Seattle Rep will present this award-winning smash hit in the Bagley Wright Theatre. The Rep's full 2016-2017 season will be announced in April.

Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today four of the seven productions that will comprise the lineup of the company's 50th subscription season, which will open in September 2016 with the 2015 Olivier Award-winning Best New Play, King Charles III, a coproduction with Seattle Repertory Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC; the world-premiere theatrical adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's (The Kite Runner) best-selling novel A Thousand Splendid Suns, featuring a live score by acclaimed musician David Coulter; the acclaimed new play, John, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker; and Battlefield, Peter Brook and Marie-Helene Estienne's intimate new interpretation and staging of Brook's groundbreaking production of The Mahabharata. The additional three productions-along with performances order and run dates-will be announced at a later date.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Mike Bartlett's KING CHARLES III, which has appeared in the West End and on Broadway, is now in print. Theatre Communications Group (TCG) announced its publication today. The play premiered in the spring of 2014 at Almeida Theatre in London, and made its move to Broadway in the fall of 2015.
