yMusic Performs World Premieres at Carnegie Hall This Winter

The six-member New York City-based ensemble yMusic, which has shown incredible virtuosity and versatility through genre-bending collaborations with both classical and mainstream artists, plays in Zankel Hall on Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. Alongside works by alternative style pop musicians like Son Lux and Sufjan Stevens, and indie classical composers like Andrew Norman, Judd Greenstein, and Timo Andres, yMusic gives the world premiere performance of two works by MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile and Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw, commissioned by Carnegie Hall as part of its 125 Commissions Project. The group's program also includes the US premiere of Missy Mazzoli's new work, Ecstatic Science.

On Tuesday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m., theCarnegie Hall Notables-a membership and ticket program for music enthusiasts in their 20s and 30s-presents yMusic in an exclusive concert in Zankel Hall for Notables members only featuring the acclaimed multi-instrumentalists (string trio, flute, clarinet, and trumpet) with special guest The Tallest Man on Earth. Following the concert, the Notables will gather in Carnegie Hall's Weill Terrace Room and Weill Music Room in the Resnick Education Wing for an after-party immediately following the performance with beer provided by Brooklyn Brewery, cocktails provided by The Balvenie, Hendrick's Gin, Milagro Tequila, Monkey Shoulder Whiskey, and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum.

On Monday, May 9, the Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present singer Morgan James, along with her seven-piece band, which included Chris Fenwick on piano, Mat Fieldes on bass, Damien Bassman on drums, Eric Davis on guitar, Dan Levine on trombone and CJ Camerieri on trumpet. The concert featured fresh arrangements of soul and blues classics, including Aretha Franklin's 'Ain't No Way,' and the jazz standard 'Ill Wind.' Songwriter Katie Thompson also joined James at the piano for a duet of Thompson's 'Make Me Hate You.'
