Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, brings "Grease: School Version" to the stage at 1 p.m. weekends beginning Saturday, May 4 through Sunday, May 19. An additional performance at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12 will be sign-language interpreted by students in the CCBC Interpreter Preparation program. All performances will be held in the J Building Lecture Hall (J-137) at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. in Rosedale, Md. Summer 2013 will bring a wealth of new works to Chicago stages, closing out this season with some of the most exciting theater in the country, and holding Chicago's place as a leader on the national scene. This was an undergraduate audience, clearly, and they were rapt and engaged. Yet it was a knowing engagement. By that, I do not mean that the kids came in knowing the tunes and humming along, in fact it was obvious from the laughs and the gasps when funny or shocking things occurred that a large part of the contingent on hand had no idea what was coming. What I mean is, the viewers got it, they understood it on both intellectual and instinctive levels, agreed and approved; the raucous curtain calls demonstrated this, and the audience's identification with what they were seeing.

The four came together for one night only at Sun Records in Memphis, TN on December 4, 1956, and the show gives audiences an inside look on what could be considered the greatest "jam session" of all time. Theseus Productions, LLC and Theater of the Stars has announced that the musical Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story will hold an open casting call in select cities for the role of 'Buddy Holly' in the upcoming North American Tour. Auditions will be held in Nashville, Austin, Toronto and Atlanta between March 16 and March 23, 2013. Finalists will be invited to audition in New York later that month.
