I am pleased to announce the nominees for the 2014 BroadwayWorld Toronto Regional Awards. The response this year from Toronto's theatre community and fans has been incredible. The BroadwayWorld Awards are an award decided by the fans - from nominations all the way to selecting the final winner.

Tarragon Theatre proudly presents the world premiere of Sextet, written and directed by the prolific, award-winning Morris Panych, one of Canada's most celebrated playwrights and directors. Chock-full of Panych's trademark wit, this hilarious comic drama about six sexually entangled musicians on an ill-fated winter tour opens tonight, November 12 and runs to December 14 (previewed from November 5) in Tarragon's Mainspace.

After two successful runs in TORONTO in 2012 and 2013, Sharron Matthews and George Masswohl, acclaimed Canadian musical theatre couple, want to bring you a little (a lotta) Christmas, again! The duo are presenting another series of shows this holiday season in Toronto and Burnaby, Ontario.

Series Director, Bruce Dow (Dora Award Winner for PIG, and Of A Monstrous Child, Helen Hayes Nominee for his work with the Tony-winning Shakespeare Theatre Company, Washington, D.C., 4 season Broadway and 12 season Stratford Festival veteran); Associate Series Director, Jeff Madden (Dora Award Winner for JERSEY BOYS, JERSEY BOYS Toronto and Australia, and 8 season veteran of The Shaw Festival); and Musical Director, Mark Selby (producer, AIR FARCE NEW YEAR'S EVE, CBC) have selected 5 recent theatre school graduates for the creation of a series of unique cabaret evenings to run through the fall and winter at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.

The 35th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2013/2014 season were handed out in a star-studded ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Monday, June 23 at Harbourfront Centre's WestJet Stage, hosted by the hilarious Matt Baram and Naomi Snieckus, Second City alumni and founding members of the National Theatre of the World.

It was an incredible night for Toronto theatre when our community joined together to celebrate another year of performing arts in Toronto on June 23rd at the WestJet Stage at the Harbourfront Centre. For the 2013-2014 season, 143 producing companies (up 41 from last season's 102) registered eligible productions. A total of 48 Dora Awards, plus the Silver Ticket Award and the Audience Choice Award, were given out in a glittering ceremony hosted by Matt Baram and Naomi Snieckus, founding Co-Artistic Directors of the three-time Canadian Comedy Award-winning The National Theatre of the World.

British playwright Mike Bartlett is a wordsmith. He has an ability to tell a story through dialogue and stage direction that it completely unique to anything else. He has had quite a few success in London, notably, King Charles III, a three hour epic about the eventual rise of the Prince of Wales. He called it a 'future history play' mimicking the history plays of Shakespeare.

Washington theatre celebrated its highest honors for achievement at the 30th Annual Helen Hayes Awards tonight, April 21, 2014 at the National Building Museum. Scroll down for the full list of winners!

BWW asks the cast of PIG, "How far would you go for love?" Bruce Dow, Paul Dunn and Blair Williams are the stellar men forced to use their well-chiseled acting muscles to bring this challenging story to life. In advance of their Opening Night this Thursday September 19, BWW's Jeff Madden sat down for a stimulating chat with the three gentlemen and found out not only how difficult it was to 'go there', but also how difficult it was just to say 'yes' to the job.

The 2013 Dora Awards took place in Toronto on Monday June 25th at The St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. To accommodate demand, the Bluma theatre was also opened up for guests and the awards were live-streamed via 'Doratron'. As in previous years, there was a glamorous VIP ceremony pre-show followed by a post show street party that closed down Front Street. A record number of Doras were given out, with Young People's Theatre's CINDERELLA the runaway hit of the evening with seven awards. BWW is thrilled readers photos from the evening.
