Kelli O'Hara & Steven Reineke to Launch PopsEd Initiative, 10/21; Laura Benanti, Andrew Rannells & More Named Ambassadors

On Monday, October 21, 2013, The New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke and Board Member Kelli O'Hara will launch the new PopsEd Ambassadors initiative, which connects The New York Pops network of talented guest artists with its transformative music education programs. PopsEd music programs provide children throughout the five boroughs of New York City with opportunities to be inspired by music and to ultimately foster a life-long appreciation for the arts.

Broadway Tenors, Featuring Kyle Dean Massey, Brent Barrett & More, Set Fall 2013 Concert Dates

Brent Barrett (Chicago, Phantom of the Opera), founder of the Broadway Tenors will be performing in all upcoming announced concerts, along with Matt Cavenaugh (West Side Story, Grey Gardens) and John Cudia (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables). And selected performances with Lewis Cleale (The Book of Mormon, Spamalot), David Burnham (Wicked, Light in the Piazza), and Kyle Dean Massey (Next to Normal, Wicked)

Revamped FINDING NEVERLAND to Receive 2014 Workshop in New York City

According to an equity casting notice posted today, a workshop for the revamped production, set to be directed by PIPPIN's Diane Paulus, is set for Manhattan in 2014, featuring new songs by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy. NEVERLAND previously held a workshop on August 26th, featuring Laura Michelle Kelly, Jason Alexander, Brian d'Arcy James and Kathleen Chalfant.

Lincoln Center Theater, under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Andre Bishop, will present Bianca Amato, Shirine Babb, John Patrick Doherty, Austin Durant, Richard Easton, Francesca Faridany, Stephanie Fieger, Malcolm Gets, John Glover, Ben Horner, Ruy Iskandar, Brian d'Arcy James, Byron Jennings, Aaron Krohn, Jeremiah Maestas, Christopher McHale, Jonny Orsini, Sam Poon, Triney Sandoval, Nathan Stark, Daniel Sunjata, Patrick Vaill, Tyler Lansing Weaks and Derek Wilson will join Ethan Hawke and Anne-Marie Duff in its upcoming production of Shakespeare's Macbeth, directed by Jack O'Brien. The production, which will feature a cast of 27, will begin previews on Thursday, October 24 and open on Thursday, November 21 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). 'Sweet Smell of Success', presented by NYU Steinhardt's Program in Vocal Performance, will run tonight, Sept. 12-14, and features music by Tony, Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize winner Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by three-time Tony Award nominee Craig Carnelia, and book by Tony Award winner John Guare. Steinhardt's own John Simpkins directs.

Barry Weissler Joins as Executive Producer for Revamped FINDING NEVERLAND

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, FINDING NEVERLAND is now aiming for a Spring 2014 run at A.R.T. in Boston before heading back to the West End, and on to Broadway. PIPPIN's Diane Paulus -- who is the Artistic Director of the A.R.T. -- is directing the production. Now, according to the New York Times, Broadway producer Barry Weissler will executive produce the project. Weissler recently worked with the A.R.T. and Paulus on the recent Tony-winning revival of Pippin.

Revamped FINDING NEVERLAND Aiming for Boston's A.R.T. in Spring 2014, Followed by West End, Broadway?

The Daily Mail reports that a year after the first incarnation of FINDING NEVERLAND closed in the West End, the musical has undergone a transformation for the better -- with the help of a little pixie dust and a lot of new songs, new talent and streamlined plot. The musical is now aiming for a Spring 2014 run at A.R.T. in Boston before heading back to the West End and on to Broadway.
