Angels in America Part Two: Perestroika at Actors Theater picks up where Millennium Approaches leaves off at a rigorous pace. Emotional ups and downs are non-stop until the play comes to a resounding conclusion leaving its audience to carry out the message of a new life.

What is there to be said about Angels in America that hasn't already been said? Some would argue that it has passed into the literary canon and is no longer relevant; due to the Reagan-era time frame and a story tied to a health crisis now long forgotten. And yet, the LGBT rights, AIDS epidemic, and drug addiction addressed in this work tread far from thinly veiled plot devices and storylines. This play is just as important now (if not more so) as it was back in 1991. Heartbreaking and conscientious, this contemporary classic is anything but irrelevant in the wake of alarming current events. And Meredith McDonough's production Actors Theater is ample proof of how meaningful this show truly is.

By popular demand, Steppenwolf Theatre Company extends its critically acclaimed Chicago premiere production of Straight White Men written and directed by Young Jean Lee. As you walk into the theatre for Steppenwolf's production of Jean Lee's Straight White Men, you are offered ear plugs. Why? There is extremely loud music playing and it contains lyrics that could certainly be considered offensive to some. Starting off this way has likely, as we are told by two gender fluid actors, made 'some of you' uncomfortable. The idea is that we all live in varying levels of comfort in our society based on our race, sexual identity, or social status.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announces final casting for Straight White Menby Young Jean Lee (February 2 - March 19, 2017) and the world premiere of Linda Vista (March 30 - May 21, 2017) by ensemble member Tracy Letts; the first two shows of 2017.

The Final Weekend of Chalk Repertory Theatre's fourth biennial FLASH Festival concludes with a new slate of five short plays. Fifteen Los Angeles playwrights were invited to create original 10-minute plays inspired by the space in which they are performed. This year's Chalk RepFLASH Festival is in residence at Los Angeles' St. John's Cathedral with plays written on the timely theme of Religion and Politics, performed by 15 teams of Actors and directed by 15 directors, presented on-site over three weekends, October 6-22, 2016, where five of the short plays are performed each weekend.

Ed and his three adult sons have gotten together to celebrate Christmas. They enjoy cheerful trash-talking, brotherly pranks and takeout Chinese, but find themselves confronting a problem that even being a happy family can't solve when youngest brother Matt seems upset about something he cannot share with his family. Their unconditional love is what matters when identity and privilege are problematic, for what is the value of being a straight white man if you have no real purpose or goals in life?

STRAIGHT WHITE MEN written and directed by Young Jean Lee, opened last Sunday, November 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre. The West Coast premiere of the production, presented in collaboration with Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA, will run through December 20, 2015. Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN will have its West Coast premiere November 20 - December 20, 2015, at the Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre, directed by Lee and presented in collaboration with the Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA. The first U.S. performances of the play since The Public Theater presented its New York premiere last fall will feature a cast of Frank Boyd, Richard Riehle, Brian Slaten and Gary Wilmes.
