What does it mean to have agency over our lives and those around us? And what happens when we're unable to fully grasp that which intrinsically controls us? This compelling construct makes for an intense, often uncomfortable, and extremely provocative 90 minutes on the stage.

When the lights went out, there was no sound. No applause, no cheering, and no uncomfortable laughing. Jim DeVita had silenced the audience in the Touchstone Theatre. That is the power of Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare's An Iliad.

But I have searched the deep dark recesses of my memory to find the shows and performances that really stood out and stuck with me beyond the evening and throughout the year. And so, without further ado, I'm thrilled to present the BWW 2014 Seattle Critic's Choice Awards (or Jay's Picks). Let the awesomeness flow!
