Chicago's A Red Orchid Theatre and Bisno Productions Launch New Partnership

A Red Orchid Theatre (Kirsten Fitzgerald, Artistic Director; Rebecca Easton, Managing Director), Chicago's critically acclaimed resident theater company, in association with Bisno Productions (Debbie Bisno, Roberta Pereira), have announced the launch of a new collaborative partnership, A Red Orchid NYC. The newly launched initiative, here in New York, fulfills the expanded mission of the Chicago based company to introduce the Ensemble's original new works to a national audience.

THE OPPONENT to Swing Into 59E59 Theaters from Chicago's A Red Orchid Theatre, 7/31-9/7

59E59 Theaters will welcome Chicago's A Red Orchid Theatre, in association with Bisno Productions, with the NYC premiere of THE OPPONENT, written by Brett Neveu and directed by Karen Kessler. THE OPPONENT begins performances on Thursday, July 31 for a limited engagement through Sunday, September 7. Press opening is Wednesday, August 6 at 7:30 PM.

Chicago Dramatists' Blue Moon Gala Set for Zolla-Lieberman Gallery Tonight

Chicago Dramatists invites Chicago to celebrate its first 35 years and play a role in the future of American theatre by joining the 'Drive for 35' and the annual Blue Moon Gala. The goal of the online 'Drive for 35' is to raise $10,000 before the Blue Moon Gala, which takes place tonight, June 6 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Zolla-Lieberman Gallery, 325 W. Huron, Chicago. The Blue Moon Gala unites philanthropic, civic, business and artistic communities in celebration of Chicago Dramatists' mission to develop new plays and nurture playwrights for the benefit of the American theatre repertory.

Northwestern University Theatre in June, Shows Run Through 6/7

A vacant building on Howard Street, Evanston's first craft brewery and an 18-hole public golf course are sites for the three off-campus productions in the S.I.T.E. Festival, co-presented by Northwestern University's Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts -- formerly known as the Theatre and Interpretation Center. The plays will run through June 7.

2nd Annual Pivot Arts Festival, ART MEETS SCIENCE, Features BAATHHAUS, The Honeypots and More, Now thru 6/14

Pivot Arts launches its second annual celebration of innovative performance events, today, May 28 - June 14, throughout Chicago's Uptown, Edgewater and Rogers Park neighborhoods. The PIVOT ARTS FESTIVAL serves to bring audiences together for unique performance events. This year the festival's focus highlights the intersection between the performing arts and science.

TIC at Northwestern University Co-Presents Inaugural SITE Festival, Now thru 6/8

The S.I.T.E. (Surprising Intersections of Theatre in Evanston) Festival will feature three compelling productions presented in non-traditional theatre spaces located in or on the edge of Evanston. A vacant building on Howard Street, Evanston's first craft brewery and an 18-hole golf course are the settings for these upcoming works at the S.I.T.E. Festival.

A Red Orchid's THE OPPONENT to Transfer to NYC's 59E59, 7/31-9/7

A Red Orchid Theatre announces that its smash-hit, world premiere production of Ensemble Member Brett Neveu's The Opponent, directed by fellow Ensemble Member Karen Kessler, is transferring to NY's 59E59 Theatre this summer, July 31-September 7, 2014. AROT will produce the remount in association with Bisno Productions (Broadway's Tony Nominated Mothers & Sons; Grace starring Paul Rudd and Michael Shannon). The Opponent will feature Ensemble Members Kamal Angelo Bolden and Guy VanSwearingen in the roles they originated during the production's extended run at A Red Orchid in 2012. This collaboration marks the launch of a new partnership with Bisno Productions, under the Company's extended mission to introduce its original work and ensemble to New York audiences: A RED ORCHID NYC.

The Theatre School at DePaul University will present Jackie & Me, by Steven Dietz, adapted from the novel by Dan Gutman, and directed by John Jenkins, as the final production of the 2013-2014 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences season. This production opens today, April 8, and runs through Saturday, May 10, 2014, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 AM, and Saturdays at 2 PM. Friday performances will be held on May 2 and 9 (10 AM). A special Sunday performance (2 PM) will be held on May 4. There will be no Saturday performance on May 3.

TimeLine Reveals Playwrights Collective, Welcomes New Associate Artists, Board Members

TimeLine Theatre Company has announced the addition of several new artists and community leaders to its ranks with the creation of a new Playwrights Collective, plus the naming of four new Associate Artists and eight members to its Board of Directors.
