Lifetime has picked up the new drama Devious Maids from executive producer Marc Cherry and ABC Studios with a 13 episode order for a 2013 launch, it was announced today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President, Programming, of Lifetime Networks.
Houston-For nearly four decades, the Houston Shakespeare Festival (HSF) has dazzled audiences with professional productions of the Bard's masterpieces. Now, the popular summer festival will take Shakespeare buffs behind the curtain for an inside look at how these plays are produced. The HSF Backstage Pass is an educational program offering adult theatergoers an in-depth journey into the world of professional theater. Participants will meet the festival's professional acting company, directors, designers, dramaturgs and production teams. They also will observe how the shows are prepared, read and discuss plays with stage professionals, and of course, witness two of Shakespeare's greatest works, "Hamlet" and "The Comedy of Errors."
Actors Dennis Quaid, Brett Cullen, Cindy Pickett and Robert Wuhl learned their craft under the tutelage of University of Houston professor Cecil J. Pickett. Soon, these star alums will return to the university to celebrate his legacy and talk theater.

'Fantastic Four' actor Chris Evans has joined the cast of the drama flick 'Puncture', reports Variety. Evans will play a young drug-addicted attorney who goes up against a healthcare giant.
Sundance Institute announced today the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Matt Weaver & Scott Prisand, two of ROCK OF AGES' lead producers and co-owners of the LA-based Corner Store Entertainment, have two films in the top dramatic category at Sundance Film Festival. The films, which star a host of stage stars, are SYMPATHY FOR DELICIOUS (Mark Ruffalo, Laura Linney, Orlando Bloom and Juliette Lewis) and HESHER (Natalie Portman and Joseph Gordon Levitt).
