The Second City's 'A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens!' opens this Thursday, December 12 at the Center Theatre Group/ Kirk Douglas Theatre. Written by Second City alumni Peter Gwinn and Bobby Mort and directed by fellow Second City alum Marc Warzecha, 'A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens!' continues through December 29, 2013.

In an attempt to prove that Washington, D.C. isn't the only town that rewards malfeasance, Center Theatre Group is celebrating Los Angelenos' wrong-doings and missteps by asking all residents to search their consciences for the worst things that they have ever done, and submit said misdeeds now through December 23 to win a package of prizes. The holiday prize pack includes two tickets to see The Second City's "A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens!" at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, a gift certificate to the local restaurant Ugo Culver City and all the Tiny Timtinis and Scrooge Drivers you can drink **. (Please Note: Mr. Scrooge has determined that you and your guest can drink no more than two each - this is a theatre, not a Toronto City Council meeting.) Darren Criss to Present YOLA at Hollywood Bowl Opening Night, 6/22

Actor and musician Darren Criss, star of television's 'Glee,' has been confirmed to participate in the 2013 Opening Night at the Hollywood Bowl, Saturday, June 22, at 8 pm. Before introducing Music Director Gustavo Dudamel's Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA), a program inspired by Venezuela's revolutionary El Sistema, the versatile and sought-after Criss will perform a song, joined by the John Burroughs High School Powerhouse Show Choir. Following the introduction by Criss, a group of 65 to 70 of the top YOLA students across its two sites will perform the conclusion of Stravinsky's Firebird, conducted by Thomas Wilkins.

The Second City has announced the Musical and Special Guest line-up for this year's "The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa," a 24-hour benefit marathon of improvisational and music fun on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 6:00pm in The Second City e.t.c. Theatre (1608 N. Wells, 2nd Floor of Piper's Alley) through Wednesday, December 19 at 6:00pm. Proceeds benefit families from Chicago's Onward Neighborhood House.

At the gala 43rd Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, November 7, 'The Madness of George III,' from Chicago Shakespeare Theater, took top honors for a play in the Large Theatre tier with a total of 5 awards, including Production - Play, Director Penny Metropulos and Principal Actor Harry Groener. In musical categories for large theatres, the Goodman Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company production of 'Candide' won top awards for a musical with 5 statues, including Production - Musical, New Adaptation for Mary Zimmerman, Principal Actor Geoff Packard and Supporting Actress and Actor, Hollis Resnik and Larry Yando. The revisionist team of Director Charles Newell and Music Director Doug Peck of Court Theatre claimed directing honors for large musicals with their new look at 'The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess.'
