Cleveland Public Theatre & Y-Haven Present WALK A MILE, Now thru 11/15

Cleveland Public Theatre and Y-Haven present Walk a Mile, created and performed by the residents of Y-Haven, a branch of the Greater Cleveland YMCA. An eighteen-year partnership between the two organizations, the project introduces theatre arts to homeless men recovering substance abuse and mental health challenges. As they work with CPT artists to create an original performance based on their personal experiences, participants develop skills and capacities that support their sobriety and transition to employment, permanent housing and independent living.

ART/WNY Gears Up for 8th Annual Mardi Gras Celebration

Mardi Gras is nearly here and ART/WNY is gearing up for the 8th annual Mardi Gras Celebration with a new twist in the evening's entertainment. This celebration brings'Mardi Gras Poetry Showcase' which will feature regional urban poets 10k, Ben Brindise, Jimmie Byrd, Bo Brooks, Team Finks, Dana Ingerbreston, Danielle Johnson, Lazyrus, Solomon and Brandon Williamson as all bring their writing talent to an evening of gumbo, good times a rollin', beads a flyin', rice & beans and one set of the soul-funk rock sounds featuring members of Child of Folly.

ART/WNY to Host Mardi Gras Celebration

The American Repertory Theater of WNY kicks off the second half of the 2014-15 season with the 8th annual Mardi Gras celebration with a new twist in the evening's entertainment. This celebration brings Poetry Slam with Beads that will feature regional urban poets 10k, Ben Brindise, Jimmie Byrd, Bo Brooks, Team Finks, Dana Ingerbreston, Danielle Johnson, Lazyrus, Solomon and Brandon Williamson as all bring their writing talent to an evening of gumbo, good times a rollin', beads a flyin', rice & beans and the soul-funkrock sounds of Child of Folly. And, of course, the ART/WNY Mardi Gras celebration wouldn't be complete without the traditional readings from the classic Louisiana book of folk-tales GUMBO YA YA. Festivities are at Bittner Hall, 16 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo NY, open at 7 pm with performances beginning at 8 pm. Tickets are $25 at the door but can be purchase online for $20.

THE AWESOME 80s PROM Returns to NYC at 42West Tonight

The long-running Off-Broadway interactive show THE AWESOME 80s PROM has a new place to cut footloose this spring and summer! The production will return for five Saturday evening performances only -- today, May 17 through September 20 -- at New York's hottest new club 42West, located at the bottom of The OUT Hotel on West 42nd Street.

The long-running Off-Broadway interactive show THE AWESOME 80s PROM has a new place to cut footloose this spring and summer! The production will return for five Saturday evening performances only -- May 17 through September 20 -- at New York's hottest new club 42West, located at the bottom of The OUT Hotel on West 42nd Street.

Alison Fraser and Mitchell Jarvis to Lead GETTIN' THE BAND BACK TOGETHER at George Street Playhouse, 9/24-10/27

9 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick will be rockin' every night beginning September 24 with music and laughter. George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced casting for the opening production for the venerable theatre's fortieth season. Gettin' The Band Back Together (formerly titled Garage Band) is a rockin' valentine to the Garden State, and will be directed by Tony Award-winner John Rando - who also helmed The Toxic Avenger in New Brunswick (and New York) a few seasons back. Gettin' The Band Back Together will rock the house beginning Tuesday, September 24 and continue through Sunday, October 27. Opening night is set for Friday, October 4. Gettin' The Band Back Together is performed by special arrangement with Davenport Theatrical Enterprises, Inc. and Roy Putrino.

On Friday, March 2, 2012, producer Ken Davenport (Godspell, Chinglish, Oleanna, You're Welcome America...) will present a private industry reading of the new musical 'GARAGE BAND' at a private location in midtown Manhattan. 'GARAGE BAND' features music by Mark Allen and book by The Grundleshotz.
