The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey announces its 56th season lineup after the great success of its 2017 season that featured the Northeast debut of the hit Shakespeare in Love, as well as a number of productions that were praised by The Star-Ledger and NJ Arts in their 'Top Ten' listings. The Theatre's 2018 slogan is 'Comic Relief' and the company will present six shows on its Main Stage at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre and one summer production on the Outdoor Stage. The 2018 season will include works by Shakespeare, Moliere, Goldoni, and Noel Coward; additionally, the Theatre will present two plays never seen before on the STNJ stage by British playwright Brandon Thomas and American Pulitzer Prize-winner Sam Shepard.

The Old Globe today announced the first production of its 2017 Summer Season: Guys and Dolls, a musical fable of Broadway. Based on the stories and characters by Damon Runyon, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, Guys and Dolls will be directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, returning to the Globe after the great successes of Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, which he directed, and Bright Star, which he choreographed.

GET and Atlanta favorite David Crowe is in the directing chair to bring this time-tested comedy by Brandon Thomas to life. Says Crowe, 'At its heart Charley's Aunt is a very silly play about the very serious business of courtship. That's one of the reasons the play has been produced so much in the past hundred or so years. Falling in love sometimes requires us to bend and even break society's rules in order to live happily ever after.' This production is graciously sponsored by the Robert W. Hagan Family Foundation.

The world's most famous vampire, a cigar-smoking man in a dress, and one of theatre's most loveable mutts can all be found this fall at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Five of the Festival's six summer shows will be closing the first week of September; but Charley's Aunt will continue its summer run, along with two additional offerings, Dracula and The Two Gentlemen of Verona, through October 31.
