Charles Busch and Penny Fuller Lend Their Voices For the Upcoming Musical DIVA: LIVE FROM HELL

Charles Busch and Penny Fuller, who appeared together as bosom buddies Mame and Vera in Auntie Mame at the Bay Street Theatre, will lend their voices to Monahan & Oyen's DIVA: Live From Hell. Busch (The Divine Sister, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife) will voice the manager of the dingy cabaret venue in Hell, where Desmond Channing (played by Monahan) is doomed to perform his torturous act for eternity. Fuller (Sunday in the Park with George, The Elephant Man), who was nominated for a Tony Award for her portrayal of Eve Harrington in the musical Applause, will voice the grandmother of Desmond Channing (loosely inspired by the character of Eve Harrington's nemesis, Margo Channing).

BWW 2016 Seattle Critic's Choice Awards (Jay's Picks)

It's been a crazy year, Dear Readers. Lots of ups, lots of downs, and LOTS of emotions. And I'm not just talking about on stage. But let's not dwell on the bad things that may have happened in the world and focus on some of the amazing things Seattle theater companies gave us this past year, and let me tell you there were quite a few. So many in fact that in some categories I simply had to call out more than the usual Honorable Mentions as some performances just needed to be noted. You'll see what I mean especially when you get to the female categories as the ladies were certainly bringing it this year. But let's get started shall we? Out of the myriad shows I saw this year in Seattle, here are the shows and performances that truly stood out to me.

Village Theatre's Beta Series Welcomes Audience Members into the Developmental Process for New Musicals

Today marks the start of frozen performances for the new musical Cubamor at Village Theatre's First Stage Theatre, though the production has already been on stage in front of public audiences for nearly a week. That's because Cubamor is the inaugural musical in Village Theatre's brand new program, The Beta Series, an unprecedented expansion to the theatre's renowned Village Originals program of readings and workshops and a testament to its ongoing dedication to the development of new works.

BWW Review: LIZARD BOY is the Musical Hero We Deserve

LIZARD BOY THE MUSICAL is a unique and creative musical that fits the pop culture time that we live in. In a world where comics inspire movie blockbusters and HAMILTON seems to have reminded people that musical theatre can be current and innovative, LIZARD BOY is the musical that we both want and deserve. This sweet and funny musical is playing at the Diversionary Theatre through October 30th.

Photo Flash: San Diego Rep Presents LIZARD BOY

Three best friends from Washington got together and decided to make a musical. The rest is history - or at least it will be when the cast of LIZARD BOY makes their San Diego debut at Diversionary Theatre this September. Kirsten deLohr Helland, Justin Huertasand William A. Williams make up the entire cast and band of LIZARD BOY, a fantastical comic-book rock concert-slash-theatrical explosion. Director Brandon Ivie originally staged the show at Seattle Repertory, and will return to stage it fresh for Diversionary.
