Signature Theatre and The Negro Ensemble Company to Honor Late Playwright Leslie Lee, 3/24

On Monday, March 24, 2014, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (Charles Weldon, Artistic Director; Karen Brown, Executive Director) and Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) will unite in a day-long celebration of the life and works of Tony Award-nominated playwright Leslie Lee. Lee passed away in New York City on January 20, 2014.

Harry Melling's PEDDLING to Receive US Premiere at 'Brits Off Broadway', 4/23-5/18

59E59 Theaters will welcome HighTide Festival Theatre with the US premiere of PEDDLING, written and performed by Harry Melling, and directed by Steven Atkinson. PEDDLING begins performances on Wednesday, April 23 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 18. Press Opening is Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday at 8:30 PM; Saturday at 2:30 PM & 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM & 7:30 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Single tickets are $25 ($17.50 for 59E59 Members). PEN World Voices International Play Festival and More Set for Martin E. Segal Theatre Center's Spring 2014 Season

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at the CUNY Graduate Center has announced its SPRING 2014 season of public programs. The season includes the Center's inaugural PEN World Voices International Play Festival, featuring 9 free readings of plays from around the globe, including HAITI, JAPAN, TUNISIA, CHILE, POLAND, AUSTRALIA, SINGAPORE, AUSTRIA and INDIA. The season also features 11 free public programs throughout the spring, featuring contemporary theatre and performing artists from around the world.

Signature Theatre has announced casting is confirmed and tickets are now on sale for the New York premiere of APPROPRIATE, by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Liesl Tommy. All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. An evening of original short plays and live music inspired by classic board game titles, Game Play features Peter Benson, Marcia DeBonis, Dashiell Eaves, Brandon Gill, Ben Graney, Susan Heyward, Jessica Love and Carmen Zilles. This production plays 10 performances, today, January 29 - February 8.

Woolly Mammoth to Host Staged reading of 'FACING OUR TRUTH,' 2/5

In commemoration of the birthday of the late Trayvon Martin, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company will join theatres across the country in producing a staged reading of Facing Our Truth: Ten-Minute Plays on Trayvon, Race, and Privilege on Wednesday, February 5 at 7:30pm in the Melton Rehearsal Hall at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. Activities will also include an activism fair to begin at 6:30pm and a post-read panel discussion. The reading, discussion, and activism fair will be co-presented with African Continuum Theatre Company.
