On Tuesday, December 17th, members of the Broadway company of Big Fish joined forces with Sing For Your Seniors (SFYS) to bring a special holiday performance to Encore Senior Center in midtown. The musical session, hosted by Sing For Your Seniors Board Member Daniel Torres (Evita, The Woman in White, Pirate Queen) included holiday favorites and songs from Big Fish. Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Frederick Weller and Tony® Award nominee Bobby Steggert will join Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Tyne Daly in the upcoming Broadway production of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, it was announced today. Weller will portray Cal Porter opposite Daly's Katharine Gerard. Steggert, currently seen on Broadway in Big Fish, reprises the role of Will Ogden which he created in an earlier production of the play at Bucks County Playhouse. Mothers and Sons marks Mr. McNally's 20th Broadway show, and will be directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall). It will play Broadway's John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Preview performances have been set to begin Sunday, February 23, 2014, and the opening night has been announced for Monday, March 24, 2014. The Broadway musical Big Fish will play its final performance on Sunday, December 29, 2013, but the show will have a life after its run at the Neil Simon Theatre. A 92Y representative confirmed that, Susan Stroman, who was a panelist at last night's 'From Book to Screen: Big Fish- A Conversation with the Creative Team' at the 92Y, revealed that an original cast album is on the way.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Roundabout Theatre Company today hosts a private reading for a potential new production of Stephen Sondheim's Company, which might include some gender reversals in the casting of SOME of the show's iconic characters. Also, contrary to published reports, Nathan Lane is not currently attached to the workshop. We have confirmed that featured amongst the cast are Bobby Steggert, Michael Urie, and Alan Cumming. The New York Times is now reporting that Tony-winning director John Tiffany is directing and 2008 Tony nominee Daniel Evans is playing 'Bobby', who will be gay in this version of the show.
