Actor/Comedian/Director Bob Saget will host Cool Comedy - Hot Cuisine, the signature event of the Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF) today, November 4 at Carolines on Broadway. Saget, an SRF Board Member who lost his sister to scleroderma, will be joined in the fundraising effort bycomedians Jim Gaffigan, John Oliver (The Daily Show) and other special guests. Legendary actor/comedian Don Rickles will be honored with the Friars Club's Lifetime Achievement Award for Comedy at a star-studded awards gala which will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. Among those scheduled to participate in honoring Rickles through their songs or words will be Bob Costas, Tony Danza, Kathy Griffin, Diana Krall, John Mayer, Bob Newhart, Regis Philbin, Joan Rivers and Bob Saget.
Over 120 performances will be held on stage between July 2013 and June 2014. Highlights include a diverse theatre series featuring Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Tony-nominated BRING IT ON, Tony-Winning MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, ROCK OF AGES and Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT; contemporary performers such as Michael Bolton, Kenny Loggins, Michael W. Thirteen students from nine U.S. colleges and universities as well as three students from foreign universities have been selected as winners in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Student Academy Awards competition.
