Now celebrating its 21st Anniversary, The Blank Theatre's Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival has chosen 12 plays by young playwrights aged 10 - 19, from six different states. These plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in this year's festival at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, today, June 6 - 30.
The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF)'s fourteenth season will include a slate of full-length plays and musicals, as well as Short Subjects. The Festival will run from July 15 to August 4, 2013, at the June Havoc Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street, NYC, 1st floor; the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street, NYC, 1st floor; the Main Stage Theater, 312 W. 36th Street, NYC, 4th floor; and the Jewel Box Theater, 312 W. 36th Street, NYC, 4th floor. Tickets are $15 for short plays and $18 for longer plays. Tickets are available at www.midtownfestival.org. The Festival also offers various group discounts and package passes, good for full-length and short plays.
Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present the Berkshire Playwrights Lab Sixth Season Multi-Media Gala Celebration on Friday, June 7 at 7:30pm and staged readings of new plays on Wednesdays, July 10, July 24, August 7, and August 21 at 7:30pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center (14 Castle Street, Great Barrington, Mass.). A recent performance of BAM's production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE was postponed for almost an hour and a half as the result of a traffic backup that caused the star, Cate Blanchett, to arrive late at the theatre. The audience was told the 3:00pm performance would be postponed until 4:00pm, and then delayed again until 4:30pm to allow the star time to arrive at the theatre.
