BWW Review: THE NUTCRACKER, Royal Albert Hall

London is already blessed with two outstanding productions of the Christmas ballet The Nutcracker. Birmingham Royal Ballet now also presents Peter Wright's beautiful version in the challenging space of the Royal Albert Hall for the second year. And what a treat it is.

With fabulous reviews for The Royal Ballet's immaculate version already in and anticipation for the Birmingham Royal Ballet's version at the Royal Albert Hall building, the English National Ballet's production of Nutcracker is under pressure to ooze with festive charm and beauty.

Smuin Brings Etta James, Rodin & More To Carmel & Mountain View

Smuin continues its 25th anniversary season with Dance Series 01, a dazzling program that pushes the boundaries of contemporary ballet. Acclaimed dancemaker Trey McIntyre returns to Smuin with Blue Until June, a thrilling tribute to Etta James. Continuing Smuin's long-time dedication to fostering new talent within the company is a trio of groundbreaking works first developed in Smuin's Choreography Showcase: Merely Players by Smuin dancer Nicole Haskins, Reflection by Smuin dancer Ben Needham-Wood, and Sinfonietta by former Smuin dancer Rex Wheeler. Dance Series 01 will also include Michael Smuin's timeless Schubert Scherzo, an effervescent dance set to Schubert's sprightly C-Major Symphony and The Eternal Idol, Michael Smuin's romantic pas de deux inspired by Auguste Rodin's iconic sculptures. Dance Series 01 will be presented February 1-2 at the Sunset Center in Carmel and February 21-24 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Elmhurst Ballet Company To Launch In 2019 With ORIGINS

Elmhurst Ballet School, the school in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, announces details of Elmhurst Ballet Company, the first-ever company for the school's Graduate Year. Elmhurst Ballet Company will launch in 2019 with Origins, an evening of dance, at Elmhurst's studio theatre in Edgbaston, Birmingham on 8 & 9 February, and Sadler's Wells' Lilian Baylis Studio in London on Friday 15 February.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Announces 60th Anniversary Season

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, New York City Center's Principal Dance Company, returns to the theater's stage from November 28 - December 30, 2018 for a milestone season. During the Company's Ailey Ascending 60th Anniversary celebration, Artistic Director Robert Battle leads Ailey's 32 extraordinary dancers during this five-week holiday engagement that will elevate a legacy of excellence in artistry with premieres by some of today's most revered and prolific choreographers, including world premieres by Rennie Harris and Ronald K. Brown; a company premiere by Wayne McGregor; a new production of by Robert Battle; the return of a recent premiere by Jessica Lang, and special performances of rarely seen works by Alvin Ailey himself.

“Festival Of Percussion” Comes to The CIT Cork School Of Music

The CIT Cork School of Music percussion department collaborate for the first time with the percussion ensemble “Millennial Percussion” from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and its artistic director Adrian Spillet (principal percussionist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), and the conservatoire's percussion lecturers Sophie Hastings and Cormac Byrne.

Elmhurst Ballet School Announces Graduate Destinations 2018

Elmhurst Ballet School, the associate school of Birmingham Royal Ballet, announces details of its graduate destinations for 2018. As the academic year draws to a close with performances of 'Summer Creations: New Works', staff and students of the Edgbaston, Birmingham based school celebrate the Class of 2018 that graduates to full-time employment, short-term contracts and apprenticeship programmes.
