Billy Porter Reflects on Album Release and How Far His Career Has Come

It's been almost a decade since the Pittsburgh-born Billy Porter released a solo album, and since then much has changed for the award-winning artist. Perhaps best known for his Tony Award-winning role as 'Lola' in the hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots, Porter's musical background is based in gospel, soul and R&B. On April 15, 2014, Porter released his debut on Concord Records, Billy's Back on Broadway. In a recent blog entry, titled 'Oh My, How Things Have Changed.' Porter reflects on the release of the new album and how his life has changed since the start of his career.

Tony Awards Select Carnegie Mellon as First Higher Education Partner

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) has been named by the Tony Awards as its first, exclusive higher education partner. As part of the collaboration, the two organizations will jointly create and launch the first, national recognition program to honor kindergarten through high-school (K-12) theatre educators.

Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter, just gave an added performance to benefit The Actors Fund last night, April 27 at 8:00 PM. The company of Beautiful donated their time and talent for the performance, for an audience which included cast members from current Broadway shows and other areas of the entertainment community. The fourth annual 'Night Of A Thousand Judys' - presented by The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre - has announced that the initial talent lineup, which will include Jane Monheit (Grammy Award nominated jazz star), Sarah Dash (R&B/Disco legend of LaBelle), Rory O'Malley (Tony Award nominee, The Book of Mormon,) Julia Murney (Wicked, The Wild Party), Erin McKeown (folk-rock singer/songwriter) and Gabrielle Stravelli (Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra). The Monday, June 16 Pride concert to benefit The Ali Forney Center will take place at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center (129 West 67th Street in Manhattan). Chris Isaacson Presents and Upright Cabaret have announced that Broadway, film and television star Jeremy Jordan will make his Los Angeles solo concert debut on Monday, May 5 at the Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood. Jordan's special guest will be his wife, Broadway performer Ashley Spencer. There will be two shows only at 7:30pm and 10pm; cocktail and dinner service begin at 6pm for the 7:30 show and at 9pm for the 10pm show.
