The producers of the Broadway hit PIPPIN congratulate two-time Tony Award winner Andrea Martin, who will depart the production following today's performance to lead the cast of the new Global TV series 'Working the Engels,' which will film in Toronto. The show is currently playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).

On Monday night, some of Broadway's brightest talents sang completely new arrangements of the hits of Amy Winehouse in the most recent concert of the BROADWAY SINGS concert series. More than 20 Broadway performers were accompanied by a full band playing brand new, original orchestrations of the English singer's greatest songs. The producers of the Tony Award winning new Broadway production of PIPPIN have just announced that two-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber (La Cage aux Folles, Shrek The Musical) will play the role of 'Charles' on Sunday, September 1 through Wednesday, September 4 and Sunday, September 15 through Wednesday, September 25 while three-time Tony Award nominee Terrence Mann is on vacation. Mr. Mann returns to the role full-time on Thursday, September 26. PIPPIN is now playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).

The Tony Award winning Best Revival of a Musical PIPPIN will help kick off "Back to School" shopping at Bloomingdale's (1000 3rd Ave, NYC) with a special event on Thursday, August 8th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In addition to unveiling four PIPPIN-themed window displays on 3rdAvenue featuring costumes from the show, cast members will be on hand at 5:30 p.m. to perform a few song selections. The event will also boast fun circus-themed activities for the whole family including face painting, juggling and various contests. Bloomingdale's shoppers who spend $350 or more in women's fashion will receive a voucher, good for two tickets, to see PIPPIN on Broadway, while supplies last.

After breaking box office records in the three previous engagements, WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster, has once again set records at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. WICKED grossed $2,755,070 for the week ending December 30. The total was not only a new house record at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, but also the highest gross for a week of performances in North American touring history.

WICKED is pure spectacle, or to quote Glinda the Good Witch herself, it's a "thrill-ifying" experience that dazzles and delights, with terrific performances and eye-popping scenic design and special effects. The plot gives a back story to L. Frank's Baum's Wizard of Oz, that is unexpected, and infused with a positive message about accepting people for who they are and not how they appear.

I remember back in the early 80's when the film adaptation of the original French play, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, was a cable staple. It's a wonderful little movie well worth your time, and it spawned a sequel, the American remake, The Birdcage, and a cheeky, charming little musical with a book by Harvey Fierstein and a funny and touching score by the legendary Jerry Herman. The production that's currently playing the Fox Theatre is a wonderfully executed and staged version that's a sheer delight. It's filled with terrific performances, and guaranteed to entertain.

The Kennedy Center will present La Cage aux Folles in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater from January 17 to February 12, 2012.
