ESPN Films & espnW Announce NINE FOR IX Documentary Lineup

ESPN Films and espnW have announced the film slate for Nine for IX, a documentary series focused on captivating stories of women in sports told through the lens of female filmmakers. Nine for IX film topics include an intimate look at Pat Summitt, college sports' most successful coach ever, the largely unknown history of Katarina Witt and her link with East Germany's secret police, and the focus of sex in the marketing of female athletes. The series is scheduled to premiere on July 2 on ESPN and the films will air over consecutive Tuesday evenings at 8pm ET.

At last night's 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards, Cher and Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-CA) presented the Stephen F. Kolzak Award to Chaz Bono, and Benicio Del Toro presented the Vanguard Award to Josh Hutcherson. Glee stars Max Adler and Grant Gustin presented the Rodemeyer family. There will be a dynamic duo of sports legends in Williamsburg on Thursday, May 12th when Diana Nyad is honored with the 2011 Action Maverick Award. To add to the excitement, tennis legend Billie Jean King will present her with the award. The Billie Jean King who won 12 Grand Slam singles titles, 16 Grand Slam women's doubles titles, and 11 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.

Last night, October 14th, 2010, Sing for Hope (www.singforhope.org) presented its annual gala to raise awareness and support for Sing for Hope's programs that mobilize professional artists in volunteer service to benefit schools, hospitals and communities. The event also raised funds for the 2011 return of Sing for Hope Street Pianos, a public art installation that brought 60 upright pianos to the streets of New York this past summer, and embodies Sing for Hope's mission of making art available to all.
