New York Live Arts today announced details for their 2015 Gala, taking place March 10 at SIR Stage37. Co-chaired by Laurie Anderson, Slobodan Randjelovic and Jon Stryker, the Gala will launch the 2015 Live Ideas festival, guest curated by Laurie Anderson.
Auditorium Theatre, Ravinia Festival Co-Commission New Twyla Tharp Works

In a momentous co-commission, Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University and Ravinia Festival, will present two new works by world-renowned choreographer Twyla Tharp November 6 – 8, 2015. Celebrating 50 years of creating dance for both modern and ballet companies, television, Broadway and Hollywood, the program will be seen throughout North America during a 10-week anniversary tour to 15 cities, honoring Tharp's five decades of dance-making. The new works, each comprised of 12 dancers—many whom have worked with Tharp over the years—will have music by J.S. Bach, Henry Butler, Steve Bernstein and John Zorn.
Key Works Acquired During Tenure of Retiring Brooklyn Museum

A selection of 100 works from the nearly 10,000 acquired during the tenure of the Shelby White and Leon Levy Director of the Brooklyn Museum, Arnold Lehman, will be presented in his honor on the occasion of his retirement in the summer of 2015.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, beloved as one of the world's most popular dance companies, will travel to 18 cities coast-to-coast presenting 80 performances, beginning tonight at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. Hitting other major venues like The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, CA, the tour culminates May 10th at the beautiful Prudential Hall of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, where Ailey is the Principal Resident Affiliate. 10 Hairy Legs Coming to Crossroads Theatre, 3/29

Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, returns to Crossroads Theatre, New Brunswick for its third consecutive appearance on Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 pm. Continuing to showcase the company's expanded repertory that explores the range of the male dancer, the performance will be followed by a Panel Discussion on the stage with Artistic Director Randy James, New Jersey choreographer Cleo Mack and Company Member Kyle Marshall. Tickets are $25 for Premium Seating Center Section and $22.50 for Seniors, $20 Adult Side Seating and $15 for students and children.

Grammy-Award winning soprano Jessye Normanreturns to Carnegie Hall on Saturday, February 14 at 8:00 p.m. with pianist Mark Markham for a special Valentine's Day program entitled Hooray for Love! The concert features classics from musical theater and the Great American Songbook including selections by Harold Arlen, Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart, and Duke Ellington, plus songs by Satie, Weill, Poulenc, Bizet, and others. New York Live Arts has announced the schedule for Live Artery 2015, a four-day event at New York Live Arts connecting dance and body-based artists with curators, presenters and the public. Presented during the annual Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference, Live Artery 2015 will feature two full theater remounts; excerpts from two recently premiered works and an excerpt from one forthcoming premiere work by 2014-15 New York Live Arts commissioned artists; and a work-in-progress showing by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company (New York Live Arts' Resident Dance Company).
