BWW Review: NOISES OFF at Indiana Repertory Theatre

Indiana Repertory Theater closes its season with the slamming of the door, or rather many slamming doors, in Noises Off. I'll admit that farces don't tend to tickle my funny bone, but this one is an exception to the rule. It rises above the general stereotype of mistaken identities and slapstick (though there is plenty of both) by adding another brilliant layer. It is a play within a play, three acts and two intermissions packed with nonstop humor.

Cincinnati Playhouse Brings Murder, Intrigue and Hilarity in May

Who killed the great American novelist Arthur Whitney? That's what audiences will wonder when MURDER FOR TWO opens May 5 at Cincinnati Playhouse. The riotous two-person musical comedy - which The New York Times called "ingenious"- runs through June 10 (Opening Night is May 10).

BWW Review: ON GOLDEN POND at PALM BEACH DRAMAWORKS

When playwright Ernest Thompson was growing up, he and his family summered at a lakefront cabin in Maine. That special place was the inspiration for On Golden Pond, his lots extraordinarily popular, bittersweet play about love and aging, recrimination and reconciliation.

BWW Review: The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis Presents a Myriad of Possibilities with CONSTELLATIONS

Playwright Nick Payne takes an unusual approach to his work, CONSTELLATIONS, crafting a simple story that's made more complex by the way in which he allows it to unfold. It's a interesting and engaging piece of theatre that the less open minded might find a bit frustrating due to the very nature of its construction. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis had put together a fascinating production of this work, which is graced with two excellent performances and sharp direction that fully seeks to explore the world that is created. I found it thoroughly engaging, and I think it's a play that deserves your time and attention.

Cincinnati Playhouse to Present BAD DATES, 4/30-6/12

The Internet may have altered the dating scene a lot since Haley Walker first graced a Playhouse stage in the 2005 production of BAD DATES, but one thing hasn't changed: Dating can be torture, so you might as well laugh about it. One of the most popular shows in Playhouse history, Theresa Rebeck's irresistible comedy returns April 30 through June 12 to the intimacy of the Thompson Shelterhouse Theatre to prove that a good date can be just as elusive as a bargain-priced pair of Chanel pumps.

The production follows the Finch siblings as they learn about the realities of a divided world through the eyes of a much older Scout, seen narrating throughout the play.

BWW Reviews: CPH'S VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE Entertains, But...

As the lights came up at the start of Cleveland Play House's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, the audience is exposed to a comfortable large morning room, backed up by a piano area, and stairs to an upstairs. On stage left is a patio, on stage right the house's entrance. Were in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in a home situated on a lake.
