Saturday evening, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. actors from The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre (BRIFT) will enact All About Eve in much the same way as it was presented during the golden age of radio. Utilizing specially designed props and some traditional and not so traditional devices for sound effects, the performers will bring to life those days when radio was the dominant form of entertainment. And... to add to the fun, the audience becomes part of the show.

Tony Award nominated director Pam MacKinnon (Clybourne Park, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) will direct actress Mickey Sumner (film Frances Ha, Showtime's 'The Borgias') in the Atlantic Theater Company world premiere of Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Craig Lucas's new comedy The Lying Lesson, joining previously announced star Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Carol Kane (Wicked, 'Taxi'). Dan Goggin's latest installment in the Nunsense series is Nunset Boulevard, which world premiered in 2009. It is a delicious musical ode to old Hollywood. And yes, Norma Desmond does make a brief appearance. Continuing on its first national tour, the show stopped at the Norris Theatre Saturday for two performances. The matinee I attended was close to SRO, and most everyone just ate up the silly humor and 5 infectious characterizations - the Little Sisters of Hoboken - who find themselves stuck, not where they were led to believe at the Hollywood Bowl, but... at at the Hollywood Bowl A-Rama. Low on plot - there's even a song this time to spell it out - it's high on energy and sheer fun, with some great audience participation including real live bowling on a TV game show takeoff The Price Is Righteous.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced that Academy Award-winner Barbra Streisand, the first American woman artist to receive credit as writer, director, producer and star of a major feature film, YENTL, will be honored at the 40th Annual Chaplin Award Gala held at Lincoln Center on the evening of Monday, April 22, 2013.

The Picture Show at Bay Street Theatre, sponsored by Peconic Landing continues with classic films this winter and spring. All films start at 8 pm. Tickets are $7 at the door and include a small box of popcorn. The evening will be hosted by Julie Halston and will feature a special performance by the cast of the Tony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher.

Hey y'all. Greetings from sunny San Diego. And thanks to BroadwayWorld for letting me ramble for a few weeks. I'm here at The Old Globe, which by the way is a FANTASTIC place to work! For all the actors out there who've not had a chance to come here, RUN, don't walk! The folks here are very sweet and the theater is so well run and efficient. It's actor utopia. My wife, Meredith Inglesby, and I came out here last year to do Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and fell in love with the place. Meredith played Reno Who and I was the grumpy green thing. So I guess we didn't stink it up too bad 'cause they asked us back this year. The only change being Mere was a little pregnant and would probably drop the little 'Who' on opening night. So she's sittin' this one out, and I am proud to announce that little Victoria Warren Blanchard popped out on Nov. 30! Mere was so amazing!
