Musical Theatre Guild Opens LA Premiere of A CATERED AFFAIR Tonight

By:

The award-winning Musical Theatre Guild, a company of professional performers who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals, will continue its 17th season with the Los Angeles premiere of A CATERED AFFAIR. The opening performance will take place tonight, April 15, 2013 at 7:30 PM at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. A second, and final, performance will occur on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's Scherr Forum.

Based on the 1956 Bette Davis film written by Gore Vidal, from the original 1955 teleplay by Paddy Chayefsky, this chamber musical highlights an unforgettable Bronx wedding that is originally planned as a simple event and then turns into something quite different. By turns romantic, funny, insightful and touching, A CATERED AFFAIR was first presented by San Diego's Old Globe and went on to receive twelve 2011 Drama Desk nominations, the most of any show that season. This AFFAIR is not one to miss.

A CATERED AFFAIR will star company members Marsha Kramer (Aggie), David Holmes (Tom), Roy Leake, Jr. (Winston), Melissa Fahn (Janey), Jeffrey Christopher Todd (Ralph) with Helen Geller, Paul Keith, Carol Kline, Tracy Lore and guest artist Kristen Lamoureux rounding out the cast. A CATERED AFFAIR is directed by Alan Bailey with musical direction by Brent Crayon and is under the production coordination of Jill Marie Burke.

The Alex Theatre is located at 216 North Brand Blvd in Glendale. Tickets are available at the Alex Theatre box office, online at
www.alextheatre.org or by calling 818-243-ALEX. The Scherr Forum at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Thousand Oaks. Tickets to this venue are available by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by visiting the Civic Arts Plaza box office.

The Musical Theatre Guild's 17th Anniversary 2012-2013 season concludes in June with the Gershwin's GIRL CRAZY. Call 818-848-6844 or visit www.musicaltheatreguild.com for complete schedule and venue information.
