Beyond their superior choice in season, ShawChicago puts on a thoroughly entertaining reading with The Doctor's Dilemma. The cast found a pace to the language in which they were able to nail every joke and find the subtleties of Shaw's humor without getting campy. I also never once looked at my watch, which is a fete within itself, being that when Shaw is done incorrectly, it can be unbearably long.

Program and Young Conservatory present the world premiere production of Riot, celebrated Irish playwright Ursula Rani Sarma's hard-hitting play, in the newest commission from A.C.T.'s international partnership with Britain's Theatre Royal Bath. Directed by Young Conservatory Director Craig Slaight and featuring young actors from the A.C.T. M.F.A. Program and Young Conservatory, Riot follows the story of a young man who lands in a residency clinic for emotionally disturbed teens following an unexpected act of violence. Riot weaves Max's relationships with his fellow patients, his doctor, and his nurses into a moving portrait of the deep human need for connection. The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Theatre on Film and Tape Archive (TOFT) is to tape the Irish Repertory Theatre's hit revival of George Bernard Shaw's CANDIDA on April 21. As previously announced, the acclaimed production, which recently received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Outstanding Revival, has been extended until Sunday, April 25 at the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) in Manhattan.
