Photo Coverage: SPIDER-MAN Cast Prepares for Halloween!

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, the record-breaking Broadway spectacular, held a Halloween safety press conference earlier today at the Foxwoods Theatre. Hosted by Spider-Man (Reeve Carney) and the Green Goblin (Robert Cuccioli), also in attendance were members of the "Sinister Six" and two members of New York's Finest. Spider-Man outlined the NYPD's official Halloween Safety Recommendations to remind parents and guardians of trick-or-treaters ways to help ensure a safe Halloween experience. Family Performance of AUSTIN THE UNSTOPPABLE Premieres at George Street Playhouse, 11/3

George Street Playhouse's Educational Touring Theatre will present a performance of the world premiere musical Austin the Unstoppable, by Barry Wyner and Daniel Israel, Saturday November 3 at 2 pm. The performance is geared toward students in grades 3-8 and lasts approximately 60 minutes, including a post-play workshop.

Glen Berger to Write Book on Making of SPIDER-MAN

According to the New York Times, playwritght Glen Berger, who recently worked alongside Julie Taymor, Bono and the Edge on Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, will write a book on the whole saga, titled "Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Story of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History."

Nick Jones, Heidi Schreck, and More Earn MTC's Sloan Foundation Commissions

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director), Barry Grove (Executive Producer), and Mandy Greenfield (Artistic Producer) just announced the 2012 recipients of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Initiative commissions for Manhattan Theatre Club. This year's six commissioned writers are April de Angelis (Jumpy), Nick Jones (The Coward), Heidi Schreck (Creature), Melissa Ross (Thinner Than Water), Sarah Treem (A Feminine Ending), and Bess Wohl (Barcelona).

Gibson, Carol Hall, Anne Hamilton, Harriet Slaughter, Mira Spektor and Gayl Teller will be presented at the Cherry Lane Theatre on Monday, October 29th at 7:30. Cara Reichel will direct. Melody Berger will provide incidental music.

Deepak Chopra, Vishakha N. Desai, Fred Ho and Christine Toy Johnson Honored at Asian American Arts Alliance 30th Anniversary Gala, 10/9

Tonight, 9 October, the Alliance will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary and pay tribute to three extraordinary leaders and their commitment to the arts: Deepak Chopra, physician and author, Vishakha N. Desai, longtime president and CEO of the Asia Society; and Fred Ho, composer, musician, and activist. Actor, writer, and activist Christine Toy Johnson will also be recognized for her dedicated service and voluntarism with the 2012 Wai Look Award.
