National Jazz Museum in Harlem Events from February 22-28, 2010

Today, Friday, February 19, Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops announced details of the orchestra's 125th anniversary season, May 4-June 20, 2010, outlining programs that celebrate the orchestra's rich tradition of performing the great music of this country's past and present, for which the Boston Pops is so well known.

Toots Thielemans, the founding father of jazz harmonica, returns to New York for the first time in two years for a rare set of performances at the Blue Note from March 4 - 7.

As good as Swing! is - and it is very good despite some dangerously frightening near-misses and a rather frenetic pace - one thing bothers me: Why did Adams-Johnson, borrowing a journalistic reference, bury her lead in the middle of the second act? In the case of Swing!, you're offered tantalizing glimpses of the story's lead as soon as the curtain opens, but the show doesn't deliver the goods until well into the show's second hour.

IN THE MOOD, a 1940s musical revue will be presented at the California Theatre of the Performing Arts in San Bernardino, CA on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 8:00pm. Now in its 16th year, this appearance is part of IN THE MOOD's 2009/2010 National Tour.

Conceived by Paul Kelly, SWING! is a high-energy song-and-dance revue that celebrates the music of the Swing era of jazz (1930s-1946) and includes well-known tunes by legendary artists, such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, William 'Count' Basie and others. Songs from the original SWING! score include: It Don't Mean a Thing (If it Ain't Got that Swing), Throw That Girl Around, Hit Me With a Hot Note and Watch Me Bounce, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree, In the Mood, Blues in the Night, Cry Me a River and All of Me.
