Some backstage fun before the big moment to deliver an important message.

As reported last week by BroadwayWorld, a trio of Broadway and cabaret favorites, Seth Rudetsky, Liz Callaway and Melissa Errico, each announced on social media that they will be involved with a televised performance tonight, July 27th, at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Tony Award-winning star of stage and screen, Patina Miller (CBS' 'Madam Secretary,' PBS' 'Mercy Street,' 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay,' Pippin on Broadway), will bring An Evening with Patina to Feinstein's at the Nikko for two performances only - Saturday, October 15 (7 p.m.) and Sunday, October 16 (3 p.m.)

Just in time for Halloween, the brand-new production of the 1975 cult classic “THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW: Let's Do the Time Warp Again” will air Thursday, Oct. 20 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Ghostlight Records will celebrate the cast album of the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of SHE LOVES ME with a special in-store performance and CD signing at Barnes & Noble on Wednesday, August 3 at 7:00 PM featuring Laura Benanti, Jane Krakowski and other cast members, featuring the show's lyricist Sheldon Harnick as special guest.

On July 14 at Ann Arbor's West Park Band Shell, the Penny Seats Theatre Company launches their production of 2007 Broadway musical smash, Xanadu (based on the 1980 cult classic movie of the same name), with a book by Douglas Carter Beane and music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar.

THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATRE AWARDS (NHSMTA)/JIMMY AWARDS has announced that 62 high school students from across America will compete for the Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Actress at the eighth annual awards ceremony. The presentation will take place on Monday, June 27th at 7:30PM at the Minskoff Theatre, 200 West 45th Street in Manhattan. Tickets can be purchased by visiting NHSMTA.COM or TICKETMASTER.COM and range from $39 to $89. Premium seats are $250.

Today in 1977, Pippin closed at the Minskoff Theatre, after having played 1944 performances. Pippin is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson. Bob Fosse, who directed the original Broadway production, also contributed to the libretto. The musical uses the premise of a mysterious acting troupe, led by a Leading Player, to tell the story of Pippin, a young prince on his search for meaning and significance. The original cast included: Eric Berry, Jill Clayburgh, Leland Palmer, Irene Ryan, Ben Vereen, and John Rubinstein.
