Golden Globe and SAG winner Idris Elba will star, direct and produce the currently untitled film, a modern retelling of Victor Hugo's “Hunchback of Notre Dame” for Netflix. The feature film will be a sonic and musical experience for which Elba will also produce the music.

Trinity Repertory Company announced today that actress Mary McDonnell will be honored with the 2018 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the theater's 22nd annual Pell Awards Gala on Monday, May 21, 2018. A two-time Oscar nominee for Dances with Wolves and Passion Fish, McDonnell's theater, film and television career has spanned more than four decades with dynamic character portrayals in period and present-day roles, including TNT's The Closer and Major Crimes, Syfy's Battlestar Galactica, Donnie Darko, and Sneakers.

A24 and DIRECTV have released an official trailer for BACKSTABBING FOR BEGINNERS, starring Theo James, Belçim Bilgin, Jacqueline Bisset and Ben Kingsley. The film is directed by Per Fly who also wrote the screenplay along with Daniel Pine.

The Old Globe today announced that its 2018-2019 Season will kick off with the world premiere of the new musical Heart of Rock and Roll, inspired by the songs of Huey Lewis and the News, featuring a book by Jonathan Abrams and story by Tyler Mitchell and Jonathan Abrams. It will be directed by Gordon Greenberg with choreography by Lorin Latarro and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Brian Usifer. Academy Award-nominated actors Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear will join the cast of House of Cards for the final season. Lane and Kinnear join Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Robin Wright, as well as Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver in the upcoming sixth and final season.

DARK HARVEST is Cheech Marin's first cannabis movie since Still Smokin, his final Cheech and Chong film in 1983. The new movie will be available on all digital platforms on January 9.

Enderby Entertainment today announced that Academy Award-winning director Robert Port will write and direct the World War II action thriller PEACE, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Richard Bausch. The film will star Alexander Ludwig and Sam Keeley and is being produced by Enderby's Rick Dugdale (AN ORDINARY MAN, INTRIGO TRILOGY) and by Richard Bullock. Maury Povich and Ludwig will serve as Executive Producers, which reunites Povich and Port after their Oscar-winning film Twin Towers. Principal photography is set to commence later this month in British Columbia.
