44 PLAYS FOR 44 PRESIDENTS Set for 44 Productions in 22 States, 2012

In conjunction with the 2012 Presidential Election, no fewer than 44 theatres, colleges, and high schools from all over the country will produce 44 Plays for 44 Presidents as part of the Plays for Presidents Festival 2012. The Festival will culminate in simultaneous election night events and an online composite video production of 44 Plays for 44 Presidents made up of contributions from all 44 productions. Productions have been confirmed at venues ranging from Geva Theatre Center to Little Rock Central High School, slotting the show in 22 different states.

SMASH's MAKE A MUSICAL PROGRAM Announces Winning Schools for Fall Phase - 10 Winners and 20 Finalists

Ten schools across the nation have been selected for the second phase (Fall, 2012) of 'NBC's 'Smash': Make a Musical.' The philanthropic initiative, sponsored by NBC's hit musical drama series 'Smash' and administered by iTheatrics' Junior Theater Project, works with under-served schools across the country to stage their own productions and implement self-sustaining theater programs.

RAIN's Joey Curatolo On The Appeal of The Beatles and The Soundtrack of Our Lives

Now known as the ersatz Paul McCartney in Rain, Curatolo grew up in a Brooklyn household where classical music and opera were more the norm. But a natural musician-at ten, young Joey taught himself how to play the guitar, playing the piano by ear at 16-Curatolo became infatuated with The Beatles, ultimately winning several Paul McCartney sound-alike contests, even touring with Beatlemania.

ANALOG, 'TOO MUCH LIGHT' and More Headline The Neo-Futurists' 2012-2013 Season

The Neo-Futurists announce their 24th season to include 44 Plays for 44 Presidents, part of a nation-wide festival curated by Andy Bayiates, Analog by Kurt Chiang, and The Miss Neo-Futurist Pageant by Megan Mercier. Also on the books is another great year of the smash hit, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind.

Crystal Theatre's SILENT KNIGHT Closes

Silent Knight: This original show with book, music and lyrics by Norwalk's Kyle Brenn follows the adventures of Amber, a tomboy on the verge of womanhood, and her dreams of becoming a knight and doing something more than what her village has to offer. It is performed by Crystal Theatre High School through April 1 at the Ben Franklin Theater: 66 Bayview Ave. South Norwalk, 06854.

Finalists Named for iTheatrics and SMASH's 'Make a Musical' Contest

iTheatrics' Junior Theater Project has announced the thirty schools nationwide which are finalists for the second phase of 'NBC's 'Smash': Make a Musical,' a philanthropic initiative sponsored by NBC's new musical drama series 'Smash' which creates sustainable musical theater programs in underserved schools nationwide. America may vote for its top ten favorites at makeamusical.org until May 4th, on May 7 the ten winning schools selected to have a full 'NBC's 'Smash': Make a Musical' program installed in their school will be announced.

BWW Interviews: Producer/director/actor Darryl Deason and THE FRIDAY FIVE

The spotlight today falls upon Darryl Deason-mild-mannered Murfreesboro dentist-by-day; high-flying, widely respected director/producer/actor-by-night-who shares the spotlight today with Katherine Sandoval Taylor, who opens tonight as Guenevere in The Arts Center of Cannon County's production of Lerner and Loewe's Camelot (playing through March 23; curtain's at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with 2 p.m. Sunday matinees) which is, interestingly enough, produced by Darryl Deason himself. Ah! Syncronicity (ya gotta love a good calendar application!).
