The Elios Charitable Foundation announced today the program and honorees for the highly anticipated 9th Hellenic Charity Ball, to be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Westin St. Francis on Union Square (335 Powell Street, San Francisco). One of San Francisco's most star-studded events, the biennial gala pays tribute to distinguished arts and entertainment luminaries in the Greek-American community and is the principal source of funding for the Elios Charitable Foundation. This year's honorees include San Francisco Symphony trumpet player, Chris Bogios and his son, Counting Crows drummer, Jim Bogios; internationally acclaimed tenor, Mario Frangoulis; and American film producer, Stratton Leopold. 2009 Hellenic Charity Ball Honoree,Marilu Henner, will be the evening's emcee.

The series kicks off in the Katten/Landau Studio tonight, July 20 with 'Life is a Cabaret - The Music and Words of Kander and Ebb' featuring Scott Gryder, Nick Sula and Phil Martin and continues today, August 10 with 'The Greg Spero Trio,' as Spero treats the audience to both original songs from his new album as well as everyone's favorite jazz tunes. It's always a tricky thing trying to find the right combination of two big-name bands to tour with each other. Finding four bands to fit together as a package is next to impossible. The Last Summer on Earth tour, which rolled into Columbus on July 5, struck that rare balance with the combination of Boothby Graffoe, Guster, the Ben Folds Five and the Barenaked Ladies.
