The decision to revisit My Mother Said I Never Should was not a difficult one. London Classic Theatre originally produced the play back in 2000 as our second national tour, and I have very fond memories of the production.
One little ladybird will be embarking on a big adventure this Easter as Kenny Wax Family bring their colourful new production of What the Ladybird Heard to the Belgrade Theatre.
Acting as a Design Consultant on What the Ladybird Heard Live is my first experience of theatre design, and I was thrilled to be asked by Kenny Wax to be involved. I was teamed up with Bek Palmer, a fantastic theatre designer, and together we came up with ideas for translating my illustrations to the stage, which Bek then brilliantly transformed into a reality.
To mark the launch of the third installment of What the Ladybird Heard, What the Ladybird Heard On Holiday, and the West End debut of the stage adaptation of the first book, author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Lydia Monks took to the streets in a ladybird taxicab, to celebrate the event. Following successful tours of Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends and Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot in 2015, London Classic Theatre return to the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, with their new production of Harold Pinter's THE BIRTHDAY PARTY from Tues 14 to Sat 18 June. It's directed by Michael Cabot, with design by Bek Palmer and lighting by Andy Grange.
