Broadway's critically-acclaimed musical A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, a music-filled live show celebrating Janis Joplin and her biggest musical influences, brings its national tour to Nashville, performing at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's James K. Polk Theater today, April 15 and tomorrow, April 16, 2016.

With previews in full swing at the Savoy Theatre, director Michael Mayer continues to polish the new revival of FUNNY GIRL, starring Sheridan Smith, which premiered at Menier Chocolate Factory.

Now, Serenbe Playhouse is headed to the city for a brand new series - Intimate Indoors - with its inaugural productions of BUYER & CELLAR and ART. Never ones to settle for traditional venues, the plays will take place in two of Atlanta's most unique locations.

Following a sold-out Menier Chocolate Factory run, Sheridan Smith leads Michael Mayer's production of FUNNY GIRL into the West End. The Broadway classic is now playing at the Savoy Theatre, booking until October 8. As well as Smith's Fanny Brice, it features Darius Campbell as Nicky Arnstein, Marilyn Cutts as Mrs Brice, Maurice Lane as Mr Keeney, Valda Aviks as Mrs Meeker, Gay Soper as Mrs Strakosh, Natasha J Barnes as Emma/Mrs Nadler, Bruce Montague as Florenz Ziegfeld, and Joel Montague as Eddie Ryan.

Barbra Streisand will finally be singing 'Rose's Turn' now that her long-in-the-wings GYPSY film has found a director in RAIN MAN Oscar-winner Barry Levinson (who also wrote the book for Sheryl Crow's musical DINER).

When accomplished concert singer and cabaret performer Lisa Jason was a child, her family moved from Long Island, New York to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and the transition would not be a happy one. A self-admitted "ugly duckling," Lisa endured relentless bullying from other kids-both mental and physical-from early grade school through her high school graduation. At a time when social media has contributed to making bullying a major American societal problem, Lisa Jason wants tell her poignant story through the music of the 1970s that she loved throughout her childhood. Her delightful voice and self-deprecating humor makes BULLIED TO BEAUTIFUL a cabaret show that audiences not only will identify with, but that will also send a powerful message that bullying needs to be stopped. Lisa premiered this show last October at the Metropolitan and now brings it to the Laurie Beechman Theatre (downstairs in the West Bank Cafe, 407 West 42nd Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues).

With its continuing success both nationwide and here in Chicago, the smash hit Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin is extending its return to the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted St. Chicago, until Sunday, May 22, 2016. The Chicago presentation will immediately be followed by a special One-Night-Only New York Presentation at The Town Hall on June 6, 2016, broadcast internationally by the WFMT Radio Network with the entire Berlin family in attendance.

Such is the situation that living legend of stage and screen Barbra Streisand has found herself in, as described in her 2010 book MY PASSION FOR DESIGN. Playwright Jonathan Tolins has taken his fascination with this idea, and Barbra herself, and turned it into a successful Off-Broadway play BUYER AND CELLAR. Hennepin Theatre Trust has brought this delightfully amusing one-man show to Minneapolis, starring the uber-talented local theater artist Sasha Andreev and directed by acclaimed director Wendy Knox of Frank Theatre. The one-person cast and many-person creative team have come together to create a wonderfully entertaining evening of theater that is funny, fantastical, chock full of pop culture references, and surprisingly touching. Playing through April 24, you would be wise to pencil this one into your theater schedule.
