Continuing its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts, The Public Theater will mount its MOBILE UNIT again this fall with a free three-week tour to the five boroughs of Shakespeare's HAMLET, directed by Patricia McGregor.

Jerry Herman's Broadway classic MAME, with 26-piece orchestra, will be staged by Light Opera Works at Cahn Auditorium in Evanston, August 20 through 28.

The Old Vic is pleased to present the world premiere of No's Knife. Conceived and performed by Lisa Dwan and co-directed with The Old Vic's Season 2 Baylis Director Joe Murphy, No's Knife opens on 3 October with previews from 29 September 2016.

Cardboard Citizens announces a new tour inspired by Cathy Come Home. Fifty years on from the original Ken Loach film highlighting homelessness, the production marks the 25th anniversary of the theatre company that works making theatre with and for homeless people. The production will tour  theatres, prisons and hostels across the UK from October 2016-February 2017.

The UK premiere of the hit Off Broadway musical Adding Machine: A Musical, composed by Joshua Schmidt, with libretto by Jason Loewith and Joshua Schmidt, and based on the classic play by Elmer Rice, opens at the Finborough Theatre on Wednesday, 28 September 2016 (Press Nights: Friday 30 September and Saturday 1 October 2016 at 7.30pm).

Following the huge success of his tours over the last four years, Sir Roger Moore, the legendary film star who played the iconic role of James Bond in seven movies, will return to the King's Theatre in Glasgow on Friday 25 November.

The National Theatre of Scotland is celebrating 10 years of presenting acclaimed theatre at the Edinburgh Festivals. This year the Company brings the world premiere of ANYTHING THAT GIVES OFF LIGHT in a co-production with the Edinburgh International Festival and the TEAM, and two acclaimed music filled dramas about refugees and migration to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase, both at the Assembly Hall; GLASGOW GIRLS, in a co-production with Pachamama Productions, Regular Music and Theatre Royal Stratford East, and LAST DREAM (ON EARTH), presented by Kai Fischer.

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the schedule for Lincoln Center's seventh White Light Festival, running from October 16 through November 16, 2016. The international multidisciplinary festival, which takes its name from a quotation by the Estonian composer Arvo Part, is an annual exploration of the power of art to illuminate our interior and communal lives. 'I could compare my music to white light which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener.' - Arvo Part

Directed by Ciaran O'Reilly, SHINING CITY also features Billy Carter (The Weir, Port Authority), Lisa Dwan (the acclaimed Beckett Trilogy), and James Russell (Port Authority, Juno and the Paycock).

Award-winning writer Tanika Gupta returns to Theatre Royal Stratford East to debut her hilarious and uplifting new comedy LOVE N STUFF on the Main Stage - three years after its first successful run in the Studio. Love N Stuff audience favourite Rina Fatania returns to play the role of Bindi and will be joined by new lead Nicholas Khan in the role of Mansoor. This funny, fast-paced and engaging show sees two actors playing a breathtaking 20 characters and is set to have audiences laughing out loud. Directed and designed by Kerry Michael (Artistic Director, Theatre Royal Stratford East) the show will run from Friday 3 June until Saturday 25 June.

Violinist Simone Porter makes her first appearance in the Bay Area, performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the Orchestra.

A range of performances and events from the 2016 NY PHIL BIENNIAL will be made available through live video webcasts, live audio streams, and on-demand video and audio, several in partnership with WQXR's Q2 Music, which will also feature a 24-hour biennial marathon on May 24. Biennial highlights will later be featured on a radio broadcast on WFMT's Relevant Tones with Seth Boustead, and on a release of biennial highlights on the Philharmonic's digital recording series Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic: 2015-16 Season.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) and OBERON are pleased to present the TEAM's RoosevElvis, created by Rachel Chavkin, Libby King, Jake Margolin, and Kristein Sieh with Matt Hubbs, Andrew Schneider, and Nick Vaughan, directed by Rachel Chavkin. Led by Peggy Shaw and Lois Weaver, New York-based duo Split Britches has transformed the queer art scene over the last thirty years with satirical gender-bending performances. Having challenged convention at every stage of their careers, Split Britches are now set to disrupt the way we think about getting old, as they present a series of workshops and performances across the country from  11 March - 16 April, and prepare to launch a Public Service Announcement via YouTube on sexually transmitted diseases within the ageing population.

Today in 1987, Les Miserables opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 6680 performances. Written by Claude-Michel Schonberg, based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Les Miserables is set in early 19th-century France. The plot follows the stories of many characters as they struggle for redemption and revolution. An ensemble that includes prostitutes, student revolutionaries, factory workers, and others joins the lead characters. In January 2010, it played its ten-thousandth performance in London, at Queen's Theatre in London's West End. On 3 October 2010, the show celebrated its 25th anniversary with three productions running in the same city: the original show at London's West End; the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary touring production at the original home of the show, the Barbican Centre; and the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary concert at London's O2 Arena. The original Broadway cast included Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean, David Bryant as Marius, Judy Kuhn as Cosette, Michael Maguire as Enjolras, Frances Ruffelle as Eponine, Braden Danner as Gavroche, Donna Vivino as Young Cosette, Jennifer Butt as Madame Thenardier, Leo Burmester as Thenardier, Randy Graff as Fantine, and Terrence Mann as Javert.
