“We should not do a show more often,” quipped Ryan Silverman as he an Jill Paice took in the appreciative applause of the Town Hall audience before even singing a note of the Broadway musical they were expected to star in this season, Rebecca.  Host Scott Siegel had just recapped the story of the show's numerous delays, fake investors, missing funds and the fact that an estimated 150 theatre professions had either turned down work or stopped seeking immediate employment because of their expectation to be working on Broadway by Christmas.

The Town Hall, New York City's landmark theatre and concert venue (123 West 43rd Street) honors two influential individuals: Dr. Charlotte K Frank, Senior Vice President of McGraw Hill and Chair of the Town Hall Arts and Education Committee, and Marvin Leffler, in recognition of 34 years as President of The Town Hall. They will receive The Town Hall's 'Friend of the Arts' Award tonight, October 21st, 2012.

Broadway stars Barbara Walsh (Company) and Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Avenue Q) join Bill Connington, the star of ZOMBIE, in performing in a benefit reading of Oscar Wilde's classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest ("A Trivial Comedy for Serious People"). Also in the cast are William Connell (The Coast of Utopia), Vivienne Cleary (Peace Warriors), Annmarie Benedict (Robeson), D.H. Johnson (Dodsworth), and Oliver Houser (Spring Awakening, Virginia Rep).

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING Extends Run Through April 28, 2013

Due to overwhelming popular demand, the producers of Gerard Alessandrini's brand- new FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING have announced the show will be extending its run at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47th Street - just west of Eighth Avenue) through April 28th, 2013. The production is co-directed by Phillip George. FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING opened on September 6th after a three-year absence from New York.

TRU Now Accepting Submissions for 2012 New Musicals Reading Series

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) is extending the submission deadline for the 2012TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series to August 23 (for musicals without a producer) and August 30 (with a producer attached). This unlikely pair develop a deep relationship based on mutual understanding and love as their lives unfold separately. Through correspondence and decades of meeting at the Willowbrook they become a pivotal role in each others lives, supporting each other through the unpredictabilities each one faces.
