Carol Wincenc's 25th Anniversary Recital at The Juilliard School, taking place tonight, September 30, 2013, at 8:00 PM at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, features Debussy's Sonata for flute, viola, and harp, L. 137; the world premiere of Yuko Uebayashi's Misericordia for flute and string quartet, a work written for Wincenc; the U.S. premiere of Schnittke's Moz-Art a la Mozart for eight flutes and harp; the New York premiere of Henze's I Sentimenti di Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach for solo flute, solo harp, double string quartet, and bass; and an arrangement by Daniel Paget: One Hundred Roses: Seven Neapolitan Serenades and Dances for flute, strings, mandolin, guitar, and percussion.

Following in the success of the 2012 PBS TV special 'Keola Beamer: M?lama Ko Aloha' ('Keep Your Love') and Grammy-nominated CD, the key elements of that performance are being brought to the live stage at the Harris Center/Three Stages. Hawaiian slack key master Keola Beamer, Native American flutist/nine time Grammy-nominee R. Carlos Nakai, jazz pianist Geoffrey Keezer ('a musician's musician,' Sting), and kumu hula (hula master) Moanalani Beamer join together to share their unique talents.

Carol Wincenc, the Grammy-nominated artist who is one of the most acclaimed and respected flutists performing today, marks her 25th anniversary as a member of the faculty of The Juilliard School in the 2013-14 season. She is celebrating the milestone with a concert at Juilliard that represents her most cherished facets of artistic life: new music, with the world premiere of a work written for her, and the U.S. and New York premieres of works by Alfred Schnittke and Hans Werner Henze; collaboration with her esteemed colleagues, with every work on the program requiring at least two guest artists; and, of course, teaching some of the best young flutists in the world who pass through Juilliard, with seven of her Juilliard students joining her on the program.

The Opera Orchestra of New York presents an opera-in-concert performance of Umberto Giordano's verismo opera, Andrea Chénier conducted by Music Director Alberto Veronesi at Avery Fisher Hall today, January 6, 2013 at 4:00 pm. Tenor Roberto Alagna sings the title role of Andrea Chénier, one of opera's most dramatic lyric-tenor roles, for the first time, with soprano Kristin Lewis as Maddalena di Coigny, baritone George Petean as Carlo Gérard, with a special appearance by mezzo soprano Rosalind Elias as Madelon.

EMI Classics will release Fifty Shades of Grey - The Classical Album, a 15-track album featuring classical music personally selected by author E L James herself and referenced in her bestselling Fifty Shades book trilogy. The Opera Orchestra of New York continues its 41st season with an opera-in-concert performance of Wagner's Rienzi conducted by Music Director Laureate, Eve Queler at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. The opera, based on the life of Cola di Rienz (1313-1354), the Italian medieval politician and popular leader of the Roman people whose goal was to transform society by raising the power of the people, stars tenor Ian Storey in the title role, with soprano Elisabete Matos as Irene and mezzo-soprano Geraldine Chauvet in her US debut as Adriano. All three artists will be making their Opera Orchestra of New York debuts.

(Young Blood!) - an opera co-commissioned by Juilliard and the Royal Academy of Music - which received its world premiere in London this past March to remarkable critical acclaim. The production opens Juilliard's 2011-12 Vocal Arts season on Wednesday, November 16 at 8 PM, with additional performances on Friday, November 18 at 8 PM and Sunday, November 20 at 2 PM. David Pountney, librettist of the opera, provides stage direction, sets and costumes are by Robert Innes Hopkins, and choreography is by Carolum Choa.
