BBC America Orders Full Season of THE NERDIST with Chris Hardwick

BBC AMERICA's General Manager Perry Simon today ordered a full season of The Nerdist, a comedy-variety talk show based on comedian, writer, Doctor Who evangelist and web pundit Chris Hardwick's hit Nerdist Podcast. The season will premiere in Spring 2013 as part of the channel's signature Supernatural Saturday programming block, also home to Doctor Who, Being Human and new original series Orphan Black. Along with The Nerdist series, Chris Hardwick will be fronting the entire Supernatural Saturday programming block in the spring.

ASPiRE's Original Series THE ROOT 100 to Premiere 12/5

ASPiRE today announced the world premiere of its new original series, THE ROOT 100. Hosted by Emmy®-winning television journalist and CNN Anchor Suzanne Malveaux, the weekly show is based on online news and commentary site The Root's (www.theroot.com) fourth annual list of 100 of the most influential African-American innovators of the next generation (age 25-45). Featuring first-hand interviews and video profiles of 24 of the list's honorees, THE ROOT 100 explores the lives and groundbreaking accomplishments of these dynamic men and women. The eight-episode series airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. beginning Dec. 5.

LAUGHING LIBERALLY: THE ELECTION EDITION Concludes 10/15 at the Playroom Theater

LAUGHING LIBERALLY: THE 2012 ELECTION EDITION, a comedy extravaganza, which mixes humor, musical numbers, and political satire will conclude its 2012 on Oct. 15th at The Playroom Theater. Featuring progressive comedians from CNN, Comedy Central, Showtime, MTV, Huffington Post, and C-SPAN, the show plays Monday evenings at 8PM until Oct. 15th.

Tribecca Launches Interactive Day Conference Today

Tribeca today announced two new forward-looking events to take place during the Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) that will assemble a first-rate collection of thought leaders spanning the worlds of film, media, gaming, technology and society. The Tribeca Film Institute's Interactive Day will explore the future of storytelling in the digital age, through an all-day conference today, April 23, made possible by the Ford Foundation. Tribeca's long-running Future of Film blog will expand its successful online offerings with a Lunchtime Series with daily talks and presentations related to platforms, technology, and trends that are changing the art and business of film.

(Performances continue every Thursday throughout the summer).
