ImprovBoston Welcomes Baratunde Thurston, 4/3
On Tuesday, April 3rd, ImprovBoston presents a reading and stand-up comedy appearance from Baratunde Thurston at 7:30 p.m. The show will run at ImprovBoston, 40 Prospect Street, Cambridge. Tickets cost $12-$16 and are available online at www.improvboston.com.
Baratunde Thurston is described as "a politically-active, technology-loving comedian from the future." He co-founded the black political blog, Jack & Jill Politics, serves as Director of Digital for The Onion and is a regular guest on Leo Laporte's TWiT. His book, How To Be Black, is a New York Times Best Seller and was published by Harper in February 2012.
This show will feature a reading from Thurston’s book and stand-up comedy. Melissa Harris-Perry, contributing analyst for MSNBC and columnist for The Nation said of his book, “Part autobiography, part stand-up routine, part contemporary political analysis, and astute all over, How to Be Black might do more to expose and explore the shifting dynamics of race in America than all the Pew data of the past decade. Reading this book made me both laugh and weep with poignant recognition.”
