For nearly two decades, Symphony Space has offered the innovative All Write! literacy program absolutely free of charge to adult students throughout the five boroughs. On Monday, February 8 at 7:30 P.M.

New York City Center will celebrate Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner Stephen Sondheim on the occasion of his 80th birthday on Monday, April 26 with a gala celebration featuring stars who have shone in Sondheim musicals including Michael Cerveris, Barbara Cook, Raúl Esparza, Victor Garber, Joanna Gleason, Angela Lansbury, Patti LuPone, Donna Murphy and Bernadette Peters. Directed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle, the evening will highlight shows for which Mr. Sondheim has written both music and lyrics, and will feature a full orchestra conducted by Encores! Music Director Rob Berman. The Benefit will help fund New York City Center's artistic and education programs. In addition, a portion of the evening's proceeds will go to Young Playwrights Inc, a charity of great importance to Mr. Sondheim.

The posthumous release of Remember How I Love You: Love Letters from an Extraordinary Marriage, Jerry and Elaine Orbach's autobiographical memoir recounting their thirty year marriage, was celebrated at a once-in-a-lifetime reunion of the couple's colleagues and friends at The Snapple Theater Center on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 5:30 PM. Each morning before leaving their Hell's Kitchen apartment to report to the set of Law & Order, Jerry wrote Elaine a short poem for her to find upon waking. The poems were humorous, sweet and topical, focusing on the couple's morning rituals, their daily routine - whatever was on Jerry's mind. Combined, they tell the story of a marriage full of life and love.

The Hetrick-Martin Institute's 2009 Annual Emery Awards took place at Cipriani Wall Street on Tuesday, November 10th.

Special guests have been announced for the 2009 Emery Awards, which will take place Tuesday, November 10th. The producers of the Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR previously announced that, in an unprecedented move, they were canceling the show's Sunday, October 11th performance so that the entire cast could join the National Equality March in Washington, D.C.

On Monday, October 5th, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (David van Asselt, Artistic Director) held its 15th Anniversary Gala Benefit at Caroline's Comedy Club. The celebratory evening was hosted by Rattlestick Benefit co-chairs Sandra Coudert, Lawrence Benenson and Colleen Jones. Guests included many of Rattlestick's distinguished alumni including playwrights Craig Wright, Lucy Thurber, Mando Alvarado and Adam Rapp, directors Lucie Tiberghien, Michael Ray Escamilla and Sam Gold, actors Thomas Sadoski, Deirdre O'Connell, Guy Boyd, Marylouise Burke, Matthew Stadelmann, Jessica Dickey and Bill Bowers, as well as many of the company's friends and longtime supporters.

The Broadway transfer of Steppenwolf's new American play 'Superior Donuts' at the Music Box Theatre celebrated its official opening night on Thursday, October 1, 2009. BroadwayWorld.com's cameras were there as the cast celebrated after the first night performance.
