The new 325-seat Aventura Arts & Cultural Center is one step closer to its June opening as the City of Aventura, in conjunction with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, celebrated the topping off of the 14,864-square-foot waterfront performing arts facility.

Free Man of Color, a new play by Charles Smith in its New York premiere from October 2 through October 25 at Penguin Rep Theatre in Stony Point, New York, explores this and other hot topics in its true life story of John Newton Templeton, an ex-slave who was the first African-American to attend college in Ohio.

After 18 sold-out months Off-Broadway, 12 sold-out months in Florida, and a national tour consisting of over 2000 performances, Avi Hoffman will bring his award-winning hit musical 'Too Jewish?' to Port Washington's Landmark on Main Street (Jeanne Rimsky Theatre/ 232 Main St. Port Washington) for a limited engagement March 11-27th, 2009.

Yarrow, Hoffman's TOO JEWISH & Sobule Come To The Landmark

Landmark on Main Street is pleased to announce several exciting updates to its 2008-09 season schedule, including a solo concert with the legendary folk artist Peter Yarrow on March 7, a two-week limited engagement of Avi Hoffman's 'Too Jewish' March 11 - 27, and a new concert featuring singer-songwriter Jill Sobule on May 16, 2009. On Saturday, March 7, Landmark will present An Evening with Peter Yarrow at 8:00 p.m. The legendary Peter Yarrow will take center stage to perform the much-loved classics made famous by Peter, Paul and Mary and to showcase his more recent work. Bethany & Rufus will not be able to perform with him because of an urgent trip out of the country in March. Landmark on Main Street thanks Elise & Marvin Tepper and WFUV Radio for their generous sponsorship of this great event and welcomes back WFUV's John Platt to host the show.
