Equity Performer Auditions (Principal / Chorus) by APPOINTMENT:

All Equity Members who request an appointment will receive one until all slots in the scheduled hours are filled. For an appointment, please e-mail ctc7873@caldwelltheatre.com with "Audition" in the subject line, or call (561) 995-2326. Walk-ins welcome, but appointments strongly suggested.

 

Please prepare  EITHER  a)  a brief contemporary monologue  OR  b)   a brief song  OR  c)  32 bars of an up-tempo or ballad and a one-minute monologue. If singing, bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.

 

Please bring TWO sets of stapled photo/resumes.

 

Caldwell Theatre Company is auditioning for the following three shows in the 2007-08 Season. All listed roles are available unless otherwise indicated. The company will conduct at least one further day of Equity auditions (by itself) later in the season.

 

DOUBT  by John Patrick Shanley. Director: Michael Hall.

1st rehearsal: November 13, 2007. Runs December 2, 2007 – January 6, 2008.

 

Sister James:  20s. Naïve, sweet-natured.

 

Mrs. Muller:  Around 38, African-American. Deferential. Stubborn. Hesitant to suspect abuse. Mother of 10-year-old student whom priest has befriended. 

 

Father Flynn:  Late 30s. Young priest who wants to modernize the Church, and who may or may not be abusing schoolboys.

 

Sister Aloysius:  CAST. Performers will be considered as possible replacements. 50s - 60s. Watchful, reserved, unsentimental.

 

 

SUITE SURRENDER  by Michael McKeever  Director: Michael Hall.

1st rehearsal: December 23, 2007. Runs January 13 – February 17, 2008.

 

Note: If auditioning for this play, please prepare 16 bars of a song from the Big Band Era.

 

Mrs. Everett P. Osgood:  45 - 60s. Society matron. Beyond wealthy. Always a little ditzy. Singing a plus.

 

Hela McFadden:  America's beloved Matron of Song.

 

The following seven roles are CAST. Performers will be considered as possible replacements.

 

Angela Martin:  CAST. 45 – 60s. Hollywood diva. Glamorous, larger than life, overly amorous. Must be able to sing.

 

Bernard S. Dunlap:  CAST. General Manager of the Palm Beach Royale Hotel & Spa.

Murphy Stevens:  CAST. Angela's personal secretary.

Mr. Pippet:  CAST. Hela's personal secretary.

Dora del Rio:  CAST. Gossip columnist.


Francis and Otis:  CAST. Bellhops.

 

 

MARIE ANTOINETTE: THE COLOR OF FLESH  by Joel Gross. Director: Michael Hall.

1st rehearsal: February 5, 2008. Runs February 24 – March 30, 2008.

 

Elisabeth Vigee le Brun:  20s. Striking brunette. Social-climbing portrait painter. Exploits the Queen and the Count.

 

Count Alexis de Ligne:  20s. Left-leaning philanderer, cad. Wildly attractive. Articulate.

 

Queen Marie Antoinette:  20s. Multi-dimensional. Youthful, excessive. Beautiful.

 

 

New Vista Theatre Company 2007-08 Season. Listed roles are available unless otherwise indicated. The company will conduct at least one further day of Equity auditions (by itself) later in the season.

 

Avi Hoffman'S TOO JEWISH? and TOO JEWISH, TOO!  by Avi Hoffman. Directed by the author.

Shows run in repertory at the West Boca Performing Arts Center, August 24 – September 9, 2007.

 

Both one-person shows are cast with the author/director.

 

 

FUNNY GIRL   Music: Jule Styne. Lyrics: Bob Merrill. Book: Isobel Lennart. Director: Amy London (at auditions). Musical Director: Eric Alsford (at auditions). Choreographer: Rob Dawson.

A co-production with The Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

1st rehearsal: October 30, 2007. Runs at The Rose and Alfred Miniaci PAC, November 23 - December 2. Runs at the West Boca Performing Arts Theater, December 13 – 30.

Some roles will double. Dance auditions will be held at a separate time.

 

Emma:  Age flexible. Fanny's personal assistant.

Mrs. Brice:  50s - 60s. Fanny's mother. Outspoken; has moxie. Sings.

Mrs. Strakosh:  50s - 60s. Larger than life. Opinionated. Friend of the Brice family. Sings.

Mrs. Meeker and Mrs. O'Malley:  50s - 60s. Friends of the family. Both sing.

Tom Keeney:  40s - 50s. Vaudeville producer. Gruff with a soft side.

Eddie Ryan:  Age flexible. Actor must sing, dance, act very well. Fanny's 1st friend in show business.

Nick Arnstein:  Over 40. Suave, debonair gambling man.

Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr.:  60ish. The Vaudeville producer. Strong personality. Does not sing.

Ziegfeld Tenor:  Age flexible. Must have beautiful tenor voice.

Mr. Renaldi:  Age flexible. New York agent. Does not sing.

Ensemble:  Actor/singer/dancers.

Fanny Brice:  CAST. Performers will be considered as possible replacements.

 

 

JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING IN PARIS  by Jacques Brel, Eric Blau, Mort Shuman. Director: Avi Hoffman (at auditions).

A co-production with The Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

1st rehearsal: November 27, 2007. Runs at Miniaci PAC, December 20, 2007 - January 6, 2008. Runs at The West Boca Performing Arts Theater, January 17 - February 3, 2008.

 

 Two Men and Two Women:  CAST. Performers will be considered as possible replacements. Must sing extremely well.

 

 

THE ODD COUPLE   by Neil Simon. Director: Bill Van Horn.

Co-production with Walnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia (AEA LORT contract).

1st rehearsal: January 29, 2008. Runs at The West Boca Performing Arts Theater, February 14 - March 2, 2008. Runs at Walnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia, March 11 - April 27, 2008.

 

All performers cast in THE ODD COUPLE must be able to spend seven weeks in Philadelphia.

 

Felix:  40s - 50s. Very uptight and finicky. A hypochondriac. Obsessively neat.

Murray:  40s - 50s. New York policeman. One of the poker players.

Speed:  40s - 50s. One of the poker players. Outspoken and boisterous.

Roy:  40s - 50s. One of the poker players. Oscar's accountant.

Vinnie:  40s - 50s. One of the poker players. A small man. Can be bald.

Gwendolyn Pigeon:  30s. Attractive. British. A bit ditzy.

Cecily Pigeon:  30s. Much like her sister. Attractive, British, ditzy.

Oscar:  CAST. Performers will be considered as possible replacements.

 

 

I'M NOT RAPPAPORT  by Herb Gardner. Director: Amy London (at auditions).

1st rehearsal: April 8, 2008. Runs at The West Boca Performing Arts Theater, May 1 - 18, 2008.

 

Midge:  80ish. African American man. Cantankerous and outspoken.

 

Laurie:  25ish. Pretty, delicate, innocent.

 

Danforth:  Age flexible. College professor. President of the tenant's committee in the building where Midge works.

 

Gilley:  About 16. An Irish kid. A punk, a bully.

 

Clara:  Early 40s. Attractive. Nat's daughter.

 

The Cowboy:  About 35. Appears to be a tall, genial-looking tourist. Affects a cowboy accent even though he has never been west of Jersey City. Turns out to be a loan shark.

 

Nat:  CAST. Performers will be considered as possible replacements.

 

 

HELLO MUDDAH, HELLO FADDUH!  An Allan Sherman Musical. Conceived/Written by Douglas Bernstein and Rob Krausz. Director TBA.

1st rehearsal: May 27, 2008. Runs at The West Boca Performing Arts Theater, June 19 - July 6, 2008.

 

Three Men and Two Women:  Play various characters. All must sing and move well.
