After 18 sold-out months Off-Broadway, 12 sold-out months in Florida, and a national tour consisting of over 2000 performances, Avi Hoffman will bring his award-winning hit musical "Too Jewish?" to Port Washington's Landmark on Main Street (Jeanne Rimsky Theatre/ 232 Main St. Port Washington) for a limited engagement March 11-27th, 2009.

Presented by GFour Productions, this tour-de-force revue, celebrates Jewish culture and features the actor-writer-comedian as he uncovers the lost treasures of Jewish music and comedy while charming audiences of every heritage. Hoffman will warmly recreate the Borscht-belt era with favorite songs and comedy routines last performed in the Catskills, Miami Beach, Carnegie Hall and Yiddish Vaudeville ---evoking a period that served as the foundation and starting point for so many contemporary entertainers. Hoffman will bridge the old world with the new, and bring those wonderful memories back to life!

Hailed by critics and audiences around the country as a fast-paced revue which combines music and comedy into a profound exploration of Yiddish culture, "Too Jewish?" touches all the bases from tongue-in-cheek parodies of famous Broadway numbers like "Oy Glaucoma" to nostalgic doses of vaudeville. Hoffman has been praised for his emotion-filled classics ("Oyfn Pripetshik," and "Oyfn Veg," as well as his hilarious version of "Romania." Translations are provided for all the Yiddish numbers so no one, Jew or gentile, will miss the fun!

"Too Jewish?" will have musical direction by Michael Larsen and scenery designed by Paul Morrill .

Mr. Hoffman, (whose credits include a featured role on the TV series Law and Order, as well as the starring role in the critically acclaimed film ‘The Imported Bridegroom'), created this joyous celebration of Jewish culture and identity, in 1994 at the Westside Theatre Off-Broadway in New York City to unanimously rave reviews. He received the prestigious Los Angeles OVATION AWARD ‘01 for Best Actor in a Musical, and was named Performance Artist of the Year ‘95 by NY Press Magazine, and was nominated for the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards.

"Too Jewish?" will play the following performance Tuesday Saturday at 8PM with many midweek matinees and special Sunday performances at 5PM. Call the theatre for schedule: Tickets are $36.
