Directed by Tony Award-winner and frequent Sondheim collaborator James Lapine, SIX BY SONDHEIM is a highly personal profile of a great American artist as revealed through the creation and performance of six of his iconic songs. Told primarily in Sondheim's own words, this feature documentary weaves together dozens of interviews with the composer, rarely seen archival material spanning more than half a century (including newly discoveRed Footage of Ethel Merman performing 'Gypsy') and re-stagings of three songs produced especially for the film. Broadway legend Audra McDonald returns to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for a concert tonight, October 26.

Silverlake Conservatory of Music announced today that its founder, Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea, and bandmate/front-man Anthony Kiedis will host a benefit for the school on Wednesday, October 30th in Silverlake, CA featuring special performances by Neil Young and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Proceeds from the evening will contribute to the Conservatory's goal of purchasing a permanent facility and expanding their scholarship program.

Broadway legend Audra McDonald returns to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for a concert on October 26.

The highly touted documentary tracing six of Stephen Sondheim's most memorable and significant compositions, SIX BY SONDHEIM, directed by James Lapine, as well as the new drama series LOOKING, starring Broadway/Hollywood crossover star Jonathan Groff, both are first glimpsed very briefly in the new HBO Fall 2013 preview released this week.

Signaling the start of the social season, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will hold its annual Gala Concert on Saturday, September 7 at 8:30 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. This year's Gala will be led by BSO Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly. The concert features the band Pink Martini, who will collaborate with the BSO for an intoxicating mix of cabaret, samba, jazz and Hollywood musicals.

Led by Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski, Pink Martini will delight audiences with their jazz-infused world music and energetic stage antics. This performance marks Pink Martini's 3rd performance in Houston since their debut with the Symphony in May 2008.
