The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA Los Angeles) is pleased to announce it will honor award-winning actor Samuel L. Jackson with the Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment at this year's British Academy Britannia Awards.

From the Tonys to TUTS we're witnessing a much needed shift in the aesthetics of American theatre. Theatre Under The Stars has been a cornerstone of musical theatre in the city of Houston for 48 years and now it has a new vision, a new presence, and a new artistic advisor -- Sheldon Epps.

The Huntington Theatre Company will open its 2016-2017 season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George, Stephen Sondheim's stunning masterpiece about love, inspiration, and "the art of making art." Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (A Little Night Music) will direct. Performances will run September 9 - October 16, 2016 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre. Tickets are now on sale to the general public.

? AstonRep Theatre Company will open its 2016-17 season with the world premiere of THE BLACK SLOT, Warren Hoffman's hilarious and biting satire about racial politics in the American regional theater, directed by Associate Artistic Director Derek Bertelsen*. THE BLACK SLOT will play September 1 - October 2, 2016 at The Raven Theatre (West Stage), 6157 N. BroadwayWorld has just learned that Frank Langella is ill and will be out for today's 2pm final performance.  The performance will take place as scheduled with Mr. Langella's understudy, Anthony Newfield.

Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts announced today that Hartford Stage's 2016-17 season will include Caryl Churchill's landmark play Cloud 9, a provocative and vital comedy that looks at the ever-changing world of sexual identity, directed by Elizabeth Williamson.

?The League of Chicago Theatres will host a speaking engagement and book signing event with John Breglio for his new book I WANNA BE A PRODUCER: How to Make a Killing on Broadway…or Get Killed on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Goodman in the Owen Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn St.  The event will include a speaking engagement at 7:00pm, followed by a reception and book signing. 

The award-winning Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC), known for bringing children of diverse ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds together through a program of musical excellence, community and educational initiatives under Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Nuñez, will give a one-hour preview of its summer tour concert program on Thursday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater at Marcus GarveyPark (enter at 124th Street and Fifth Avenue and walk south to the venue).

The Drama Book Shop is pleased to welcome Jack Viertel for a discussion and signing of his new book, The Secret Life of the American Musical: How Broadway Shows Are Built, on Wednesday, June 15th at 5:00PM. The event is free to the public, but priority admission is granted to those who purchase a copy of the book. Mr. Viertel will sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase, following the discussion.

California Shakespeare Theater's 25th anniversary season at the Bruns Amphitheater continues with August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning story of the American Dream deferred, Fences, directed by Raelle Myrick-Hodges in her Cal Shakes debut. Fences, which plays from July 6 through July 31, marks the first time Cal Shakes has presented August Wilson's work on its stage.  Mayor Martin J. Walsh joined Huntington Managing Director Michael Maso and developer John Matteson of QMG Huntington, LLC to announce a partnership that will allow the Huntington Theatre Company to stay in its current home, the Boston University Theatre.

'Our 9th Season is guided by 1st Stage's promise to provide breadth and depth of storytelling for our community,' stated 1st Stage Artistic Director Alex Levy. 'This unique line-up of plays, some of the greatest in the American theater, utilizes humor, humanity, warmth, and drama to tell perceptive and, at times, heart-wrenching stories about American life. Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have just announced Manhattan Theatre Club will produce the American premiere of Linda, a new play by Penelope Skinner (The Ruins of Civilization at MTC, The Village Bike) directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow (The Assembled Parties, Wit).
