La MaMa Presents the World Premiere of OYSTERS ORGASMS OBITUARIES Beginning 12/1

La MaMa has announced that the world premiere of Oysters Orgasms Obituaries, written and performed by Raïna von Waldenburg, and designed and directed by Zishan Ugurlu, will begin performances Thursday, December 1 at 7:30pm, with a press opening set for Sunday, December 4, at 3pm, in La MaMa's First Floor Theatre, 74A East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Oysters Orgasms Obituaries is part of La MaMa's 50th anniversary season.

Barrow Street Theatre Presents IMPROMPTU SPLENDOR, 10/21 & 22

Barrow Street Theatre and The National Theatre of the World present Impromptu Splendor, an improvised play series by the Canadian Comedy Award-winning troupe. Heralded by Time Out Chicago as 'brave, brainy and incredibly agile,' Matt Baram, Ron Pederson and Naomi Snieckus unite to create captivating live theatre through the art of improvisation with Impromptu Splendor. Performances for Impromptu Splendor will be held at the Barrow Street Theatre, 27 Barrow Street, New York, NY 10014 for two performances only, Friday, October 21st and Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 at 10:30pm.

Cutting Ball Theater Announces PLAY STRINDBERG, 11/6

Cutting Ball Theater presents the first installation of this season's Hidden Classics Reading Series, PLAY STRINDBERG, Friedrich Dürrenmatt's adaptation of August Strindberg's The Dance of Death. This searing portrait of marriage, a tight, gripping three-person play, finds a man and a woman who can not live without each other, but without the help of their mutual friend, might wind up killing each other.

Cutting Ball Theater Announces 2011-12 Season

San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater proudly announces the lineup for its 12th season. The ambitious season opens in October with Maurice Maeterlinck's PELLEAS AND MELISANDE in a new translation by Cutting Ball Artistic Director Rob Melrose, who will also direct. The company is also poised to present the World Premiere of Eugenie Chan's evocative take on an ancient Estonian folk tale, TONTLAWLAD, directed by Paige Rogers and Annie Paladino, in February.

Cutting Ball Theater Announces STRINDBERG CYCLE and Grant

San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater announces that the company has been awarded a grant for $150,000 from the Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation to produce all five of playwright August Strindberg's Chamber Plays, in new translations by Paul Walsh, in a festival entitled Strindberg Cycle: The Chamber Plays in Rep. Cutting Ball Theater's Strindberg Cycle: The Chamber Plays in Rep will debut in October of 2012 with full productions of all five plays running in repertory through November 2012
